Hey, guys, it's me. I'll be coming back from my little hiatus on Friday, because I fixed shit faster than I thought I would. However, another problem has arisen here...
SS13 is starting to bore me.
It's not that I don't like it or anything, but often when I'm playing it I feel stuck in a rut, forever restarting and RPing and going through another shift. It's kind of gotten to me after a while, and while I do love the community, I find myself loving our platform less and less as time goes on. I've noticed other prominent members of the community (namely Sphere and Sub) stating these same sentiments, and I feel they may soon be widespread.
So here's what I propose: while not abandoning the SS13 server, we branch out and look for new games in which to RP. There's plenty of possibilities here, and when we do eventually find fitting games, it'll stop the community experience from stagnating.
Let's all keep our eyes peeled for RP opportunities! Post to this thread your comments, ideas, and any suitable games you've found.
Thanks for your time!

I've been thinking of trying Hazordhu, or whatever it is o~o Seems to have some nice mechanics, just worried about not having anybody to RP with >_<

It seems as though my love, personally, is still heavily based on SS13.
So I don't really want to leave quite yet.
However, I may recommend Garry's Mod. It's suprisingly easy to host and offers great RP stuff. To a limited degree, we could also try:
Mount and Blade warband. With the uniforms and stuff, it's not scifi, but I've thought of using it for RP.
...And that's it. Honestly, SS13 is the best RP-Game out there. We could always use IRC for text RP, or play a RTS if we don't want RP.
SS13 is a great combination of both.

You would have to actually find free or cheap games to do this with, as most people won't drop $15>, just to RP with people.

Hazordhu is a strange little RP game about building a city from nothing. From what little I've played, the mechanics and such are fairly well done, with lots of different skills and items to mess around with. However, it is lacking in players and is (I think) uncompleted. It is also about more constant RP than SS13, as you'll be living with some peeps for an extended period of time. Dunno. Oh, and Minecraft (<_<) had some RP servers on it, and some were very well done. Just something to keep in mind.

Tried this back on Apollo.
It never worked. It's hard to split a community between games successfully, and while we are growing, we don't have the numbers to support another server yet.

Yeah we had a minecraft and a dayz thing on apollo, and while both have a lot of rp potential, they ended up failing.
I'd actually do minecraft rp, it might be fun.

Hazeron, Minecraft, Wurm, Garry's Mod. That's all I can think of off the top of my head that has RP potential.
Hazeron is a sci-fi space game, where players can band up and fly a ship together. It's pretty fun, when you have a bunch of people flying the same ship, with helm, guns, nav, shields and engines, all looked over by the Captain.

I think this idea would flourish best as a knit-tight event for whoever wants to play these games on their free time. I'd be willing to give Hazeron a go! Other games I actively role-play on are World of Warcraft, Crusader Kings II, The Guild II and Mount and Blade: Warband (Persistent Frontier mod). I used to role-play a lot on Warcraft 3 as well, and if I were to buy the Neverwinter games again, I'd play that as well. But cba.

Looking over Hazeron, I think it actually looks pretty good. I'd be down for playing.
Also, Neverwinter, too. If I had it. But I don't.

You can buy NWN diamond on GOG.com for like $8 (AKA the price of two cups of coffee). It's three games, has mod tools, has DM support, and had a thriving online community. It also has RP that is more robust than SS13, but will suck you in even more and demand even more of your time, so I would advise sticking with something that is, mechanically speaking, more satisfying, and round based.
P.S. Gamespy has discontinued support for relic game server listings, so you will need to find a third party list of servers/search for servers directly. I would recommend either City of Arabel or Escape from Uncertainty.
P.P.S. I didn't mean to like my own post. I was aiming for the edit button.

Neverwinter Nights Diamond? Is that it?
Never played it, but I'd pay ten bucks for it; albeit with no small amount of reluctance.
It's weird how I'll go out and spend twelve dollars on McDonald's and then flip my shit when a game asks for anything over $7.

Right, did a download of Hazeron. Just my luck that it doesn't work.
Apparently, from my research, my problem is that SoH doesn't like the ATI OpenGL driver... at least, my version of it. Because I'm a half-newb at this kind of stuff, I'm at a loss.
If any of you know how to properly update a ATI Radeon HD 4600 series card, let me know. I tried to figure it out on Microsofts website, but it didn't help me at all.
