That could work, or you could just add them under assistant as alternate tiles with different access to keep clutter to a minimum

As far as I know, title of a job doesn't change access, job changes access? So what Sam's saying-- having intern/understudy/etc job titles being listed under the actual job title, with maybe an alternate, general 'intern' title for assistant-- would be less work than coding in access changes for title changes.
Except wait I misread what he wrote and both ideas have title-based access changes. So wow, ignore that.
I'd be all for having an all-encompassing alternate assistant title, intern. If you want to restrict access so they need more authorized medical staff on-hand with them all the time, why not leave them with assistant access and let HoPs handle upgrading it icly?

Title -does- change access. That's why virologists can enter virology and medical Doctors can't.

No, none of you have understood my point.
I am saying add an 'if' variable to the alt title to in short check what title the person picked, and if they picked the intern one, it would reduce their access, if applicable. (I.e. med, engineering, unsure if atmospherics access can be reduced)
And Dea, my suggestion wouldn't add any "clutter" to the game interface.
And yes, AFAIK Medical Doctors can access Viro.
And no, I had no intention of a 'general intern' because that's what my departmental idea was about.

That's harder than that. It's really a mixture of files and different vars. Will need a quick search through files and et cetera. It can be done tho.

That's harder than that. It's really a mixture of files and different vars. Will need a quick search through files and et cetera. It can be done tho. Find spawn code, which I've already found while editing the RD's access to include tech storage, add in conditions upon spawning as a new job. Simple enough, kinda-sorta-ish-yes. At least, it's doable, that's the key here. And shouldn't be all that back-breaking.
As far as what we're doing, I'm inclined to go with Sam's suggestion. I've seen other servers, GOON, run with departmental assistants (Engineering Assistant, Medical Assistant, etcetera), but having more job-specific titles, like the ones he pointed out, is, in my personal opinion, betterer. How's that sound?
Oh, and regarding MD access. All varieties of Medical Doctor have the same access. I've busted into Surgery as a Virologist once, because I needed something from there. The door proved no challenge: it opened as I waved my Virologist ID at it. I could also look into fixing that, although I inda like the redundancy in question.

Oke, coded in. For the most part.
I may have to create a new job titled "Intern," alongside Assistant, and have the custom titles in question apply to that job.
Or I need to stop being lazy, and replace the simple "yes/no" check on the assistant with another "low/med/high" check. Then again, I kind of like the "yes/no" thing, for a few reasons.

The "yes/no" should stay to be honest, as it serves its purpose well.

The "yes/no" should stay to be honest, as it serves its purpose well. Yup, my thoughts exactly. I'll see if I can add an alternate title selector for it, or simply make the new Intern position a thing.
