This game is, for lack of a better word, awesome. It has an interesting setting, puts a unique spin on the "post apocalyptic" theme, and is wonderfully complex without being impossible to figure out.
The player begins the game by being mysteriously released from his pod in a long-abandoned cryo-center. Being quickly approached by some sort of creature, he must escape- and fast. Once he enters the outside world, wearing only a hospital gown and a patient wristband, he is free to travel anywhere- and to fend for himself.
This game is, without a doubt, insanely difficult. You will die. It's highly likely that you'll die from cold in the beginning of the game, if you're unable to find any clothes to replace your hospital gown. If you find clothes (and shoes, for that matter) you're still likely to die of dehydration or hunger. Being struck on the head during a confrontation with any old bandit could knock you unconscious, allowing you to be robbed- and finished off. More than anything else, this game is about learning through trial and error- each death a lesson in a very dangerous class.
Scavenging too recklessly? A roof collapse could break your leg. Charge an enemy with who has a spear? You die of internal bleeding. Go to sleep in the open? Wake up at the wrong end of a gun.
But because of this difficulty, succeeding is truly rewarding- a feeling that games rarely elicit from me anymore. There's nothing like intelligently out-maneuvering a foe, crafting your own bow and arrows, or finding water after a long period of thirst.
It's available for 10 bucks on Steam, and there's a demo as well. Check it out!

Furcri, you had me the whole way. I waslike... Yes. YES. YESSS! Then. I found you had to buy it... Now, steam being a US deal and me being in a country where 1 US dullah is equal to 10 bucks... Buying things online becomes kinda costly. Other than the pain in the ass price feature, game sounds good. Fun. And deddleh.

Me I pirate all the things. *flips down eyepatch and pulls out a bottle of rum* Arrrr me hearty.
But really, a bought game is the best one. Because nothing worth getting comes easy, and pirating for the 0 moneyz has it's downside. Like for example most pirated gamesies can't work in MP, we all know das where de fun is at.
But yea, if this game turns out half as good as I imagine it to be I'll... Uhhh... "Procure" myself a copy. Arrr.

I always rekt my way through this game, until I reach that city place (it's been a long time since I played it, like when they finally had the gang factions come out)Then I just get bored because that's pretty much all too it in terms of the story line, unless I want to go to that sekrit place with the sekrit ghosties.

I tried this. Within the first week I was chased by seven bandits and two megawraiths, and was forced to go into Zom Zom's, where I was thrown into the chute for the incinerator.

At one point I became a badass wasteland warrior with a Dogman fur coat, fingerless fur gloves, combat boots, cargo pants, a big ol' backpack, a compact bow with a fuckton of broad head arrows, a sharp-ass spear, and a sling.
I roamed Michigan, terrorizing bandits, Blue Frogs, and civilians alike. I killed countless monsters, ate human flesh, and pulled a sled full of the rotting meat from my slain enemies.
One day, I ran in to a regular ol' shirtless, one shoed Bad Mutha who was carrying a crowbar. Not wishing to waste my broad heads, I approached him for CQC.
Before I could get a stab in, he smashed my head with the crowbar and I instantly died from a traumatic brain injury.
SUCH IS LIFE

WARNING: Anyone who HASN'T played a bit of Neo Scavanger... This post will contain spoilers.
I feel ya, I... Uhhh... Got a copy. Let's just say through a lil' less than legal means... ANYWAY. First time I played I went for a combat build where I brutally murdered the dogman and took the security footage of my badassery. I got off to amazing loots and ended up with a patchwork coat, hoody, patchwork gloves, a fully loaded pistol with some hella extra rounds, I even made it to the city and back to the cryo (fer the lelz... Also I left the security footage there) and not to mention my boxcart with a compound bow, proper arrows, a hunting rifle with scope and starp and a brilliant supply of meds, sterillized water, clean bandages and cured meat (humans, dogs, deers. Whatever walked... I ate it) AND THEN. I died from the one in a million chance of a headshot from a looter with a scopeless hunting rifle at a distance of 32...
Quite the end.

So after several infuriating tries, I finally struck some good luck in this game. I found a crowbar, and found a bunch of clothes, and put them all on at the same time (3 pairs of pants, woo!). I had the trapper skill, so I was able to kill a wolfman and made a badass coat out of him. I collected the meat of my slain enemies in my shopping cart. I found a hunting rifle and was fucking up raiders and bandits and melonheads and wolfmen when this random unarmed, feeble, barefoot bandit wielding only his fists charges me and punches me once. I ended up dying in three more turns due to acute bleeding in the lungs.
Wat.

Obviously you're not tuff enuf.
Choose the tough trait on the character creation screen. Might help.
Also, I hope they add more armor in to the game at some point, like craftable scrap-metal breastplates for the lungs, and maybe motorcycle helmets/army helmets/human skull helmets to protect our squishy heads.

I went first with my combat build which was basically rambo... Melee, tough, strong and ranged in basic human. Then some other traits I can't remember.
But a good few are trapping, eagle eye, melee, and tough to get started I guess. I experiment with others each time I die (if I ever die)

Ranged is a good trait to choose because you can craft bows/arrows right at the start, and then know how to shoot things with said bow and arrows. You can also use it to craft a broad spear pretty early on.

If you want to make money easily, electronics is a good skill to get (or was it hacking?) You can basically hack into shit but I've never done it. A good tip is, always have either melee or tough on you, unless you're up for avoiding early game combat scenarios. Have a survival skill on you, like trapping or tracking. Then at least one advantage skill, something like eagle eye, or medical. If you have space, it is recommended but not required, to get a specialist skill. Mechanical, electrical, etc.
