NSS AURORA, Tau Ceti System - This just in! We have breaking news from NanoTrasen designated space project, NSS Aurora, a space station of the newest model, known for being the twin-sister of the notorious NSS Exodus, sharing the same system! Word reaches us that an incursion has been launched on the NSS Aurora, and the blame thrown onto recent hijackings in the sector, the culprit suspected to be the work of brigands, formally calling themselves the Space Pirates of Tau Ceti. It is still unknown whether or not this transgression against NanoTrasen is connected to the hijacking of a cargo ship, which was making its way from New Magnikta to Central Command for a basic shipment of supplies, as per their agreement, before making its way through a known black space sector. Communication had gone black, and the cargo ship had fallen off the radar. When communication finally restored itself to full integrity, the ship was no where to be detected.
Witnesses of the NSS Aurora attack just last week, during their sixth work cycle this year, state that an unknown ship had been within the proximity of the NSS Aurora during the attack. When station personnel prepared to investigate, the location of the ship had no longer been accurate. They claim that it did indeed bear a mark of NanoTrasen origin, and so there is a sixty-percent probability that this is our missing ship!
As for the attack itself, those involved with the incident state that the so-called brigands has first made landfall on the station asteroid, where all mining and xenoarchaeology research take place, and then made their way to the cargo department of the ship, taking a Cargo Technician hostage. The intruders stated that no personnel would be harmed so long as they are given weapons. The crew did not respond. Despite further advisement against action, the Security personnel on-board had jeopardized the life of said Cargo Technician, in an effort to break their hold over the department - they were successful, and the Cargo Technician in question is currently at Central Command answering many questions; her health is perfectly normal, specialists say. It is unknown whether or not the intruders managed to retrieve the weapons or not. More information on that later.
The intruders were apprehended and stripped of their equipment. They were then dragged to the permanent brig sector of the NSS Aurora, to be questioned. Whilst filing paperwork on the incident, the intruders were able to escape the station and flee into dark space once again, with the help of a tertiary member of their crew. More information will be made available as it becomes available to us. Thank you, and you heard it hear it first, on Tau Ceti Daily News!
