This is starting to annoy me. I can't seem to figure out how to use these radios properly! Supposedly, you have Microphone disengaged, and Speaker engaged - hold it in your left or right hand, and use :l or :r to talk into them. But they don't work. I'm getting tired of having to flip on the microphone, and having all nearby conversations leak into the communication.
It's fine if I want to use both hands and carry it in my pocket, but sometimes I don't want all nearby chatter to get into the comms.

They're basically portable intercoms, which is why people use headsets instead. If comms are down, you have to settle for less... Meaning station bounced radios.

So what happened to the whole :r and :l to speak?

The whole :r and :l is for two headsets. :r being right ear, :l being left ear.
:i is for intercomm speak, incidentally. Automatically activates one, even if the speaker is offline, when in range.

Suggestion: Replace :r and :l for headsets with :e for right (because the left is auto-used) and use :r and :l for station bounced.

Suggestion: Replace :r and :l for headsets with :e for right (because the left is auto-used) and use :r and :l for station bounced. Not necessary, as we already established, there EXISTS a preceeding combination to use a station bounce... I've used it myself, and while it may not be :i, it exists. So, what you're proposing is not needed, and would cause issues, as Sam pointed out.

its not that hard to click on the radio and speak people..honestly and :i is easy enough to use, we don't need to make new combo's for absolutely no reason. Think before you suggest something.
