They suck. Events are supposed to be for everyone, from the Captain to the lowly Assistant. However. Alien events have "confirmed hostiles". Who sees "confirmed hostiles"? Captain. Sec. officer. RD. Engineer. Basically NO ONE ELSE. If people are actually competent, you don't even get to hide in the corner screaming because they're all trapped on the asteroid or something. Alien events are shit because of this.

You haven't had a chance to see it yet because the event has BARELY happened. We are doing what we can to get it on station and around, but when people like you constantly complain and get in the way of that happening, it gets harder.

Let me make sure I understand this.
Your upset because as an assistant, someone who is about as useful and trusted as a doorstop, wasn't invited to go play with the giant purple aliens. Now it may just be my understanding, but if you want to "get in" on these events maybe you should take a position that isn't part of the grey tide

Witt is correct. Eventually all jobs get in on a proper alien event in some way(assistants are usually bait). But as an assistant you can't just walts into an area you don't have access to.

OTHER EVENTS PEOPLE do I have to say this EVERY TIME I RANT? No, but it helps to have points of reference, rather than vague sentiments. Events like aliens would only have the people you mentioned involved, everyone else will be RPing amongst themselves, trying to stay alive.

Here's a point, you need to consider one thing: events need buildup. The event was at the point of first contact when you started complaining. That is not reasonable.

Later, my character got to interact. However, the interaction wasn't more then seeing an alien get blown apart by lasers and a facehugger latching on (without the person getting infected). Plus, the aliens were kept secret most of the round.

Leore announced the event. If you wanted to, I don't know, shoot or touch or whatever the heck you were expecting to be able to do to the alien, then you shouldn't have joined as part of the gray tide. It's as simple as that.
As to your point about other events - we run those too. This time we just happened to do aliens.
Also, congratulations to Leore. This was the first alien event in a long time that didn't end up with everyone dead. We had two or three casualties out of a good twenty man crew.

Please give a very excellent and well explained reason as to why an alien would be exposed to the entire crew, let alone an assistant. Science deals with the aliens. Security makes sure nothing happens to the crew. The crew do what the crew needs to do to keep the station running. Incase you was not aware this is a roleplaying server, disregarding the fact of heavy roleplay. Sure it's a game, but if I recall correctly, people come here to role play, not to get involved in an event because shits and giggles. If your character doesn't get involved with an event. MAN UP & DEAL WITH IT Justifying an event was "shit" because you were not "involved" is just outright silly and stupid. If you were not involved, then tough. Better luck next time, or like said countless times, don't play assistants. Staff members do all they can to get the event spread out equally, but taking direct control is generally frowned upon. It's up to the players participating to decide what happens next.

Hey, aliens need food, right? People they can assimilate? That's where assistants/civi jobs come in. To try to survive against the scary horde of xeno's.

I'm pissed off by the fact that, oh, wait, the aliens weren't even known about by the public by the time they got on-station.

The public isn't trusted to handle this information. Hell, even security knows as much about it as the assistant would (except maybe, the extent of how effective weapons are on it via trial), and even science has it's knowledge of the species restrained. If you know everything there is to know about the alien...then you'd know how to handle it better, and it would make the round a bit...boring. For example, if you know that aliens advance their species by putting tiny facehumpers on like a mask, then you'd know what to do with that guy; Space him if you can't get him surgery when he gets on his feet. The whole element of the unknown adds to the fear and paranoia that's supposed to be instilled on the civilian roles/non-involved persons.

I'm pissed off by the fact that, oh, wait, the aliens weren't even known about by the public by the time they got on-station. Learn not to get to the point you are pissed off. ITS A GAME. Additionally, that's bullshit, I know for a fact I announced several times an "unknown life form" but yes, I didn't do it immediately, why? RP wise, it is not info you give everyone over general comms, could I have done it differently I.e. Lie? Yes. And I probably will in the future. All in all lesson for you? Don't start the round as a blood assistant and expect to get all close and buddy like with the aliums.

I wasn't expecting to get "all close and buddy like", I was just expecting, maybe, for some actual people being scared? Hard to do that when they don't even know why it's not safe (Atmos difficulties on the mining station?)

If they don't know why it's not safe they can draw their own conclusions. Either way, I'd be pretty scared if command was telling me there was danger on the station and not exactly what it was.
