Well, somebody missed the good ones, then. They're super fun.

Looks like Colony has had the most votes! The poll has been locked early. I'll be prioritizing Colony for my next event! Anyone interested in giving a hand (I can only assume Tuiee will be all over this), just stay tuned for the event details. I was also told Skull might be hosting a Colony event this week. Though I didn't see him say it personally.

Both of the colony rounds I've been in have been pretty much exactly like that though. So I don't know which ones you're lookin' at.

I'm prettying it up a ton by focusing on the positive side of colony. Not gonna lie there.
All events are at risk to flop, though, and colony is no different. However, I still hold it as my favorite event, because it gives everyone a chance to do something. It's a darned shame that we haven't run it in forever; people who have had negative experiences with it haven't had the chance to get the exciting RP that it's capable of.

I'm pretty sure Colony would be super cool - my suggestion, get it started at the beginning of the round, make a way that everyone has all access, kill telecomms, and remove the pod consoles. I want people to feel like they're really cut off from the rest of the universe, and that all the outposts are spread far apart from each other.
It'd be like a REAL colony, without hope for proper communications and lack of proper resources. Example, if someone is injured at engineering, you'd have to travel all the way to research to get them to a surgery table, or risk ghetto surgery on the spot. Botanists wouldn't have their hydrophonic trays, and would need to go back to using soil plots to grow food. To assist, maybe NT could drop a relief crate, which includes seeds, 1 RCD, donk pockets, a few toolboxes, and basic hardsuits. I'd expect only engineering and mining to have their own hardsuits, while everyone else has to share the rest.
Perhaps, we can even get an admin-controlled sleeping alien on the abandoned mining outpost. But I wanna see a colony round where everyone works together to survive, instead of it turning into a paranoia/colony, or nations/colony. I haven't been in many colony rounds, but it always seems to turn into a mix of colony + something else that just makes it aggravating and hectic.

Okay. To be quite frank. The colony round was a clusterfuck, there was admin power usage (near abuse at points) and just plain out gankfest at the end.. While i am NOT going to complain on admins for this, this could have been done ALOT better! Really! 1. Station was destroyed, forcing people to evac. Okay-no. If you are going to run a colony round, people WILL need the station to build a colony. 2. Fighting to get out of the event type. Okay, again no. Just because people complain do you have to make a boss-fight type thing, and basically shit on the round for everyone else. I even got teleported after it was over when i was on the mining station! 3. Not giving the people on station any direction, destroying tcomms to do..-something-. Im not sure why people thought it was a good idea to destroy tcomms and just give everyone no guidance. It really was just a clusterfuck when i joined in, i expected us to be BUILDING a colony, not fighting an alien. For MOST of the time i was there i had NO FUCKING CLUE what the hell was going on! 4. Rampant over-use of admin powers. This really, REALLY got on my nerves. People were teleported everywhere, given PULSE RIFLES, and PULSE DESTROYERs. Death-Squad level weaponry! Why in Sagan's name would you do that?! Not to mention the EVERYONE DIES ending where a explosion KILLED. US. ALL. After fighting a ALIEN EMPRESS!
tl;dr it was a clusterfuck and really quite a bad event in my eyes. /end rant

To address Kerbal's concerns:
Yep, that last one was a huge mess up. That aside, I'll go through your points individually and write a response for each.
1) That's the way it's always been in colony. The station being ravaged is the catalyst for people going to the asteroid. It's not a colony in the sense that NT decided the crew had to build a human habitation on the 'roid, it's a colony in the sense that everyone are refugees attempting to make do with what they have in the absence of a place to live.
2) The major issue with every colony round I've run is that there is no ending. Folks would get angry and annoyed over OOC because there was no end goal, so, with that in mind, I provided one. That came in the form of a monster that, if killed, would end the station's isolation and allow people a chance to go home.
3) The OOC event text gave as much direction as could be provided. It, quite literally, said that the crew had to go to the center of the station and defeat a creature if they wished to get away. Other than that, what everyone did with their time was up to them.
4) Admins have to use their powers during an event. It's just the way things are. In response to us over using them - all we did was teleport people to the outposts when they joined, and teleport them to the center of the station when the round-ending condition was met. As for the weapons, it was already stated during the round that the bluespace anomaly that rendered the station inhospitable also left behind a plethora of powerful artifacts (weaponry) should the crew wish to brave the station and seek them out.
Again, that round was, indeed, a failure, but station-wide events tend to go that way regardless. People will always demand one thing or the other. The staff can't make everyone happy, otherwise we just wouldn't have events. Someone will always be dissatisfied.
One last thing: everyone dying at the end of the round was brought on because it was requested. There was an ending in place, but it was set aside in favor of a quick finish. We only made that decision because everyone was asking for the round to be concluded.
I hope you're satisfied with the quality of my explanation. If you have any further questions, Kerbal, I ask that you PM me, and I'll be happy to answer.

Since this is pretty much an event schedule for an already passed event over a decent period of time, locking. New event schedules can be created by staff in a new thread.
