Hi!
You guys have been nothing but kind, respectful and supportive to me during my stay in this community. However, I will likely be much less likely to play in the future, as I've noticed a slip, a significant slip in RP quality on the part of the entire SS-13 community, not just you guys.
I'm an old player, I'm used to playing long extended rounds where my character would meet others, converse, befriend them and form long-lasting relationships. I've yet to do this a single time on Aurora, despite my attempts. RP means realism at-least to an extent, you should attempt to play your character as a real person, you NEED connections, you NEED friends or at-least inter-personal contact.
These days, all I notice is demands for "Something to happen" and people doing their jobs, as if that's all that life consists of. It's boring and repetitive, and fails to hold my interest.
I'll be here, but I'll be focused on writing my stories/lore and forum RP and other games, at-least for awhile. Hopefully this trend won't prove permanent.
Don't take this as "YOU GUYS SUCK" please. Some of you are pretty good

You make a fair point!
A lot of people feel that SS13 is more for gaming and action that roleplaying, and so events are necessary in keeping people entertained.
But character development is always fun!
Anyway hope I'll be seeing you around.

I see what you mean and I usually try that kind of thing, but its difficult when you are chatting to a Doctor and they run off on a medical emergency, or its the one and only time a bartender might be needed... I have the worst luck really.

I've been trying to branch out more with my characters. But it never seems like the right time...

I'd agree, sadly. I had a few relationships occuring with Raieed and Nikolai, but a lot of rounds turned into me wandering the halls, looking for someone to talk to after doing my job as whatever the fuck.
Not much we can do about it as a single person, frankly.

Not much we can do about it as a single person, frankly. A community is nothing more than a conglomerate of individuals. Any action undertaken by a community starts on the initiative of an individual, specially here on Aurora. This mindset of "we can't do much about it" is a wall built by none other than yourself, it is an issue created by your own mind. Abolish it. On Aurora it is so damned simple to acquire an open floor, to get in touch with the staff and start development of ideas, solutions, whatever else. Do not deny yourself an opportunity to solve an issue, if you see one, because I most certainly don't (and look at where I ended up as a damned result of doing exactly that). What we require are one of two things: events (which I am starting to, hopefully, host with sustained frequency. Hence the Event Schedule and actual posts there), or antagonists. I don't exactly care whether or not you like the idea of using antagonists, but a well played one can add oh-so-much to the round: anything from creating stress and causing characters to break under pressure, to creating very interesting situations and issues to wrap one's head around, and solve. There exist solutions, a myriad of them, but I need people to take up the initiative and execute them.

Skull is essentially space Lenin. I forgot about this.
And it's still one of the few roleplay stations with actual roleplay, so yeah~

Yeah, Aurora is FAR better than most others. But it could be improved, as they all can be. Nothing's perfect afterall
