So, since I now play a character that is strictly implanted, I wanna see if I can clear up a few discrepancies about the NT chip. From my understand, these implants:
1. Incline loyalty to NT. But is it subconscious level? Or what?
2. If given a direct order, from a head, you are inclined to obey. But these orders must be in the benefit of NT. You can ignore orders from heads that don't benefit NT in any way, and you can definitely avoid action that would harm NT.
3. Attempting to fight the implant makes it hurt - I've RPed it as it 'feels like a white hot needle pricking the inside of your skull'. The more you fight it, the higher the severity of pain.
4. Trying to fight it too much will cause so much pain, that you are locked in place and cannot focus on anything else but your thoughts. IT might even cause some physical damage? Either way, the person would be in such a state of confusion and pain, that suicide would seem to be the most logical solution.
5. It can drive people insane, or make them moreso, if they are already mentally ill, or confused. I recall one incident where a prisoner was previously brainwashed, and after implant, it only made the condition worse.
6. People unwillingly implanted will simply follow orders, with strong resentment. A 'forced' loyalty, with no actual love for the company.
7. The brain tries to provide reasoning to work along with the implant. If you really don't want to follow a direct order, you have to 'trick' yourself and explain why. Examples, 'it's not a direct order' or 'it would hurt NT'
One example was back when I played Rose Watson. She had been implanted, but was suffering from severe trauma. While her implant would incline her not to harm her coworkers, her brain snapped and reasoned that these people were not her coworkers. Therefore, she wasn't restrained to grab a glass shard and attack her doctors.
8. While a normal implant can be surgically removed, the HoS and captain's cannot - while aboard the station. Let's say that their surgery require much more sophisticated tools that cannot be done with simple surgery tools onboard. Regardless, their implants are removed when their shift ends - they don't have it 24/7.
What are your understanding of the loyalty implant? Thoughts and ideas?
