I want to make a new character for Aurora - Hawk Silverstone. However, I'm afraid that his backstory might be too far-fetched.
Hawk Silverstone was in essence, a test-tube baby. When the Red Roots project failed with Rose Watson as its primary subject, NT scientists decided to try again with a more controlled subject. They took the DNA of Jedrick Silverstone and bred a son. Since birth, Hawk has been conditioned to serve NT. He has military training, mainly psychological, and is experimented on with loyalty implants.
Now here's the stickler: Hawk was born as a fully aged teen. He was 'born' at the age of 15, and been trained for approximately two years - making him 17 present day. I think two years is a fair enough gap between the time when Rose fled NT from her execution to present day. He lacks an understanding of culture, and is seen as (hopefully) the perfect agent for NT.
The other idea I came up with (and more believable) Is to have Hawk been secretly bred from Silverstone, and aged naturally, away from any knowledge of family. Brought up with strict military training since childhood, among several hand-picked offsprings of high ranking officials. After Rose's incident, he was picked to continue the Red Roots project.
Third idea takes Hawk to be a normal teenager growing up as the son of a wealthy commander. If at some point Hawk died, he was cloned and had a complete memory wipe, giving a clean slate for NT to work with. Then he can have his two years of military training.
My biggest concern is which of these starts are the most believable. I originally wanted to have a young teenage brother of Rose, who resents and loathes her. In his eyes, Rose shamed the Silverstone family, betrayed Nanotransen, and is the reason why Jedrick Silverstone is dead. He's grown up secluded from society and is pretty naive about things like love, family, friends, etc.
His DNA is backed up of when he is 17 years old. There will be times he'll commit suicide/get killed and NT scientists will have a clean slate to work with - fixing whatever mistake was in the last Hawk. Then they'll breed him over again. When Hawk is finally considered to be "perfect" (When Rose is 49 years old) the newest copy of Hawk will be 17 years old, and be given his first official mission: assassinate Rose Watson.
I want Aurora to meet the first version of Hawk. Once I have a proper background, I can get a better idea for his personality.

I kinda like the first two ideas- they remind me of Jack from BioShock.
I definitely think it's okay to be a special snowflake as long as you don't use it as an excuse to be unreasonably skilled, meaning young Hawk is likely a killing machine - one that can't read or write, due to all of his life being spent in combat training. You'd be playing in security roles and likely not much else.
Best ask some other people their opinions, though. This is just my two cents.

Unable to read or write...that's an interesting idea. I certainly like the idea of him lacking some kind of basic life skill, but I think a 'perfect agent' in NT's eyes would be capable of reading and writing. What else could there be?
the only 'overpowered' concept with Hawk, is a minor psychological immunity to trauma and depression - basically what they were trying to do with Rose. Rose can hide it very well, and so will Hawk. But even if they hide it, it's still there underneath. Although down the line, I won't be surprised if I make him commit suicide from depression. I can cheat a bit and add in his medical files that he cannot be cloned or borged, so there is no excuse for being immune to his own traumatic death experience. I doubt NT would want this special agent to be borged, and they certainly wouldn't want a basic cloning procedure to destroy their delicate work.

If not illiteracy, probably an almost complete lack of social skills, or mostly artificial social skills (trained how to react to certain situations with manufactured lines). In this way, he might be strong mentally and physically, but he's heavily socially impaired and unable to function normally in a group.

Considering that I have a converted Nuke op as a Character ((Whisper Unity)) I like this.

Actually, if he doesn't know how to read and write, he doesn't have to fill out incident reports...
Hmm...maybe I can make him learning how to read and write...he'd know how to sign his name, and read warning signs, but that's it. He could understand basic things, like reading people's names off the security records, matching DNA and fingerprints, or registering someone's security level. But he wouldn't be able to read and comprehend their security records, or understand an autopsy report.

No. No warning signs. <_< >_> *Watches him walk into an open airlock and cycle it by accident without internals* Jks, jks. Sounds good.

Well... none of these are certainly very far-fetched, taking the whole SS13verse into consideration. Actually an interesting concept, being cloned and memory-wiped several times. I assume that he's not aware of being cloned, so if he ever found out, it could make him nuttier than a peanut factory.

Played a little bit with Hawk yesterday (I was the detective on the rev round) tried finding out a bit about his back story, then a bomb went off.
He seems like a pretty 'normal' character, so. Yup. No complaints from me.

I'm glad people like him I'm still working to get an idea of his personality. And I've figured out how he is to deal with his illiteracy. He can: 1. Sign his name 2. Recite the alphabet 3. Understand important words and signs (PDA text: HELP, Airlock, enter, exit, Command, CE, HoS, etc.) 4. Match letters to letters (so he can see someone's name on the ID and match it on a screen) 5. He memorizes most of the crew's names, and guesses howthey should be spelt when he looks at their files. He can get it wrong though. He doesn't know how most words are spelled, so he's hopeless in typing and writing. If he reads, he tries to sound out each letter of the word and tries to understand what it means.

Also I wouldn't worry about the snowflake-esk bits, seeing as I used to have a DeathSquad Marine as my main character, as long as, like has been said, they dont come through in game much Only thing I will say is that 17 is waaaay to young to be generally accepted as a sec officer, possibly 20-21? Anyway, must sleep, vision is pulsing all hail the somthing or orther

I will point out 17 would be the shittest possible age for a soldier. Too many hormones and things.
22 to 25 sounds a far more reasonable age for a actual clone soldier. You'd get too much horny stupidity from a 17 year old~

It's too late to change it - he's already known around the station as a 17 year old boy.
Hawk is actually pretty naive about...well, everything. One way to put it, he was discussing with Crystal about donating their DNA for future research - but he sees her as a friend, not a girlfriend. Delta Agents would have been strictly monitored and severely discouraged from intimacy (want to avoid unregistered children). There'd be a lot of psychological conditioning to discourage him from a relationship - and now that he's in Red Roots, probably even more, since NT doesn't want his DNA to be mixing into the gene pool.
Hawk's serving on the station so he can be exposed to civilian lifestyle. But he's trained to be courteous and kind. Hormones are not, he's too brainwashed to do anything.
And I'm female, so I really don't know what's going on in a guy's mind >.> This is my first second male character.

Brainwashing affects upper mental functions, so thats an issue when hormones affect the lower levels.
You can easily retconn this, and frankly, men are hotwired to be affected by hormones. Heavily.
For example, men can smell when women are ovulating, and are more attracted to them at that time. Of course, this is subconscious, but it's still a interesting fact.
