This is a guide, for being a WARDEN. Not a Security Officer. All right?
Part One: The Brig All right, you're the Warden because of a lucky auto-roll or because noone else wanted to be one. So, yeah. Your first job? Watch the brig. The brig is your home, and you shouldn't leave it for long unless if there's an emergency in the Brig or you want to grief are a traitor or have enough reasons to leave it for a prolonged time. You are not a Security Officer, no matter how many fancy guns you have. Part Two: THE ARMORY. Please don't be one of those guys who just takes out the guns and shoots random people. Hand them out to Sec Officers with stamped/signed papers when it's needed and don't let them get stolen. Also, beg Research for better ones. Part Three: Paperwork! Make your own paperwork and make the people fill them out so they can get guns. That's all!
Part Four: Where are you on that chain? COMIC SANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNS You are on the same level as a security officer, but normally expected to take charge. Ask the Captain for stuff if the HoS isn't here. Etc.

You shouldn't be handing out energy guns to Officers in the first place, unless it is an emergency.

Perhaps you should add in how the warden is supposed to watch over the station via cameras, update records accordingly when people are brought in to be brigged.
Technically, officers are meant to deliver prisoners to the warden for processing, so setthe timer accordingly and add in detailed reports about their major and minor crimes.
Then yeah, the paperwork. There's a few presets that I'll link later if I remember, that you can literally just copy and paste from. Then you can photocopy a few of them and pass them out to security. As warden, you should probably make sure that everyone is geared with a holobadge too.
Lastly, you are under the HoS in terms of chain of command, meaning that as far as I'm aware security is yours to command if there's a lack of a head.
That's pretty much all I can think of! Feel free to add any bits you want into the op.

Actually, the warden and security officers ARE EQUAL. The only time the warden has command authority over officers is when they are within the brig and dealing with prisoners, or the HoS says so. At least, that is how I have always been taught and is how I act.

I know that I personally will do one thing one way and another person do it totally different. I like to think of the warden as second in command to the HoS. IC he would probably be more experienced than your average officer. But again...opinions.

If you honestly want to be a good warden, refer to Shawshank Redemption. Up until the part where the Warden becomes an asshole, his behavior and mannerisms are pretty accurate.

The warden is completely responsible over the monitoring, punishment, trial and the treatment of the prisoners. They will take the fall and such if one of them ends up injured, so don't let the officers, pepperspray the prisoner and beat him whenever he tries to stand up, because you will the one who gets in trouble for it.

It should be noted that a Warden is expected to know First Aid. That little medical booth in the western side of the brig is for the Warden's use.
