Idea: Multiple Antagonists Complexity: Very High Player Count: 25+ Admin Involvement: Very High Summary: Aurora Station can be a strange place. Lesbians in Medbay, Security arresting everyone who isn't them, Engineers leaving presents across the station... Traitors to the left of me, wizards to the right, and here we are, stuck in Aurora Station.
The premise of this Event is that there's more than one antagonist making their way onto the station. Syndicates infiltrate the station just as Aliens establish a foothold, a wizard appears in time to interfere with Voxx negotiations, a changeling starts abducting people just as traitors begin to make their move, etc... All of these things are possibilities.
Obviously, there are a few issues that would arise from this, namely everything devolving into a giant gong show. In my opinion, an event like this works best when there are reasons for each faction to be there at the same time as another. Each side has an objective to work towards, which may or may not interfere with the other's goal.
A good example is Syndie vs Alien. The crew has their objective of maintaining the Station, the Syndicate is trying to GET DAT FUKEN DISC, and the Aliens are trying to consume the station. It becomes a race against time for the Syndicates, a complication for the Aliens, and a disaster zone for everyone else. In addition, player antags aren't the only thing to worry about. Instead of two antagonists, traitors might have been sent to stop a repair crew for a meteor round. Syndicate members may have unknowingly carried a virus with them that infects them and the crew. The possibilities are endless, but I believe best results are achieved if there is a story that takes place.
Just something to consider,
The Drake's Heart

I guarantee this would fail if aliens were involved.
More to the point, the different antags have different play styles that would not work together.

Nikolai. That's the point. Antags aren't supposed to work together. They're supposed to work parallel, or even in direct opposition to each other.

So what role play or interesting events are you hopeing will come out of this? It looks to be a highly complex event with lots of room for grief and other kinds of things that would just make it unfun.

Highly complex, yes. But no more room for grief than any other antagonist. As for what I want to see out of it... you ever just watch a reality TV show? or a train wreck? It's a lot like that.

Last I checked, these kinds of things were frowned upon. Mostly because yours truly decided to run things like this so often.

Unbalanced factions, requiring a TON of people, one knucklehead with explosives. Seems too chaotic. It feels like it would turn into a deathmatch. Or just one guy with a bomb to blow out certain hull areas and just let the humans waste away.

It looks and sounds like a boatload of gank or be ganked. We all know that it will stop being about the rp and just be a clickfest of who has the better chance or the OP weapons. What about the crew members then? They will literally be fodder for the antags and it will lead to many unfair and silly deaths.
Good idea for a server where you 'play' Space Station 13, but not a Roleplay server. -1 from me, because I don't see much good RP from this.

But... Lots of players choose to rp it out when there could be click fests, I don't understand why you're thinking it'll be a clickfest on a heavy rp server.

The last alien round I played had to be stopped and have redoes so many times due to people no only forgetting how aliens work (Not to kill all humans as how are they men't to make offspring?) but interrupting rp with a quick throw of a face hugger or just simply tackle and apply face hugger. It takes one person to not RP and just gank to make everyone else give up on RP.
Traitor rounds for me seem to go better when not only is the traitor as weak as everyone else... but is alone and has to think of ways other than violence to get their job done. Another thing about this idea I don't get is... how can it be canon in anyway?

100% agreement with Lk on this one. Its a total gank fest. Yes it would be fun if we "play" SS13. But we dont. We are a heavy roleplay server. Something like this is most deferentially something I wouldn't run and something I would hope no admin here would ever run.

Aliens are meant to be a threat. The RP comes from, y'know, trying to get out of a bad situation with your friends. Trying to stay alive and so on and so forth. The alien just provides the backdrop to the scenario. It is silly to expect a xeno to sit and chat with you for a couple minutes before, y'know, facehugging.
Remember when that was enforced and you shot me as soon as the facehugger stun wore off? Or how two officers came and attacked me twenty seconds later? And then the detective showed up a moment later and put holotape around me and then cuffed me? And then the CMO pops up out of nowhere in the next minute and shoots me to death again? Xenos are a backdrop. Pretending otherwise is pretty much quadruple-quintuple suicide to the xeno player and then two people can RP with the queen for two hours while the 5-6 xeno players run in circles around the station with nothing to do because she shoos them off every time they get near and then she dies randomly and an ERT is called for no reason and then the round ends.
Not everyone likes xeno rounds, just like not everyone likes nuke rounds, just like not everyone likes wizard rounds, etc. But ugh, with xeno rounds, it's usually over in ten minutes. Or it should be.
Likewise, some people like a more hectic playstyle (No, not me. I don't this idea all too much.) and good grief, this elitism smells something awful. The server doesn't cater to all this fighty stuff, yes, but the setup will take an hour and the actual event will take like half an hour and then the shuttle gets called and we end sometime between a two-hour round. The half-hour of pointless violence really, really isn't that hard to sit through, nor should it cause anyone to be disappointed in an admin for running it. Ugh.
Kay. Rant over.

Mm. I'm all ranty because of that round too (and I didn't have a convenient xeno to shoot). Because, y'know, we sat around doing nothing for two hours and then were told to jump off the station. I don't think this rant is actually related to the topic.
