Alright, I took it upon myself to advertise to reddit.com/r/ss13 and try to get some more player, because our numbers at certain hours have not been up to par with my personnel standards. The responses... have been.. er, really bad. The Nightmare complaints are a prime example of the number one rule of adminning:
Don't interfere directly with the affairs of mortals. Ever.
Unless someone is deliberately griefing and responds to admin-pms with "I did it for the lulz faggot 420yolo", then there is no reason to directly spawn items / delete items / god forbid enter the game as a centcomm operative.
I have nothing against Nightmare, or any other admin, for that matter, but subtlety and using the least amount of force possible is always the best solution to any situation. We'd be wise to learn from the post's negative feedback.

So, firstly I should say that I never called anyone a 'faggot', that doesn't even sound like me. And secondly I didn't just spawn in to deal with him. The station was going to shit and I was apart of the ERT send to secure the station and was told by the captain to arrest him. I love people xD

Sure there is. A better golden rule would be: "Your admin powers are to make the playerbase look and feel awesome, not yourself." I've rewarded awesome RP or sometimes just doing your job well with various things like wishes, custom-items, and other forms of acknowledging good players for doing their job well. Curious as to some of the comments that were posted, since it's been taken down. I wonder what kind of bile people will spit given anonymity. |

I meant that I don't think creating an admin-controlled character solely for the purpose of killing or detaining a griefer is a good idea. Heart attacks and appendicitis are much more fun efficient. Same goes with giving a sec officer a laser rifle and then deleting it as soon as they've finished off a griffer. We're more than capable of using our admin abilities to stop them without making guns rain from the sky. Not that free weapons for everyone is fun, but.... |

Ah, yeah, the self-insertion adminbus. Dareb was a big fan of that.
He used a rocket launcher if I remember right. Left big holes in the station that were more of a problem than the usually-innocent "griefer" ever was. Once blew up the entirety of Virology during a Virus round because two people were having a fist-fight in it, killing five dudes and dooming the round. I think he then gave the captain GBS and called me a shit admin before logging out.
Ah, old times.
Anyway, posted on the reddit thread, if Nightmare's going to be complained about it should be with actual reason rather than some guy making up/ridiculously exaggerating a story.
