The Basic Idea
The Radio DJ job would be a part of the civilian department, and would spawn/be based in a separate wing of the station. She would be able to play music from a list of midis, broadcast their and other's voices, and possibly even disrupt the station using emagged equipment.
The Studio Layout
The radio studio would be a very small, two-room complex installed north of the escape wing. It would be split into a recording studio and a bedroom. The bedroom would be built off of the studio, and the complex would be connected to the station by a glass bridge. Parallel to the glass bridge would be an additional connection to the station, reserved for power lines and atmospheric pipes for the radio studio. The utility connection would link in to a "utility closet", which would simply contain a water tank, an APC, and maybe a PACMAN. Between the studio and the glass bridge would be a small waiting room, with a chair or two and a windoor.
The Radio System
The radio system would be made up of a MICROPHONE, a CONTROL TERMINAL, a BROADCASTING VANE, and the RADIOS.
The MICROPHONE will pick up any speech or certain sounds in it's range (egun shots, smashing glass..), and broadcast the sounds to tuned RADIOS. The text would look something like "SPEAKER NAME [RADIO STATION SET NAME]: *message*" or "Faith Skirata [Radio Station 13]: Fuck you guys!". The microphone would be turned off by left clicking on it.
The CONTROL TERMINAL would be a laptop or computer in the recording station that could be used to configure various parts of the transmission. Authenticated users (people with DJ access) could select a song from a list (a request thread would be needed, and songs would have to be manually added to the code), change the displayed radio station name, or link to a communication radio channel (the default, general comms channel would be blocked from being selected. Any speech from a linked communication radio channel will be broadcasted on the radio). If the terminal is emagged, the computer will also display the option to "BROADCAST BROWN NOTE". When the Brown Note option is activated and confirmed, radios would begin emitting a white noise sound effect, and people would slowly begin to take respiratory damage and vomit within the radio range. Eventually, the BROADCASTING VANE might explode/break.
The BROADCASTING VANE would be situated on the eastern side of the radio complex, and would simply be what allows the radio system to broadcast. If the vane is broken, all transmissions stop. A new vane could be ordered via cargo system, for anywhere from 30 to 50 tokens.
The RADIOS would be boombox-looking things spread throughout the station, which could simply be turned on and off with a click. They could also be built in autholathes.
The DJ
The Radio DJ would be equip with a black jumpsuit, a standard radio headset, brown shoes, sunglasses, a gold chain (maybe?), a "MIX MASTER" PDA (probably would have limited remote access to the computer terminal), and a radio. Her ID would have "DJ" access.
