Evening, ladies and gents. Today I present to you something I have, and many others have, been sitting on. Although I will go into much greater detail in this presentation, allow me to give you a synopsis here. Essentially, the board will be mostly In Character, where one can make complaints about how another character does their job. Minimal OOC information is to be provided, with proof it actually happened, and actions can be decided upon by the Central Command Employee Officers, who will be admins.
How it might work:
It might work a dedicated forum area that has a designated amount of admins who handle the issues ICly. The admins would not work on a biased note, and for the sake of the heaviness of the act, the accused character will be seen as innocent before proven guilty.
The complaints can be arranged by a series of warning levels, varying on the employees track record and seriousness of accusation at present. Once a certain level has been reached, pay cuts occur, jailing occurs, mandatory temp leave can occur, moving off station, contract termination, and a plethora of bad things can happen. Other employees can provide their input on the accused's account, negative or positive, and will have affect on the outcome of the complaint.
Captains, HoPs, IAAs, and heads in general get a fairly more, how to say, respected audience from the central command officers, but it is all equal overall. Similarly, if an employee has too many complaints against themselves, their opinions on other employees are considered illegitimate and don't hold much, if any, weight in the outcome.
The accused is allowed to defend themselves, but if the accused or the accuser becomes unprofessional at any time, the complaint is considered valid/invalid with respect to each action.
It would work with so called, character bans, that are honorary policy codes that players are suggested to follow, else we will have to enforce them OOCly. It is doubtful that your character will be completely terminated or sent of station, or jailed, but in the event... you probably did something very very bad.
NOTE. READ THIS. CHARACTERS WHO ARE ANTAGONISTS FOR A ROUND ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS. Any character who was an antagonist is to be considered exempt from any complaints, and you are suggested to save your complaint until round end, so you can know.
Also, this doesn't just include employees! Cyborgs can be decommissioned or reprogrammed, and so can AI. Reports on synthetics are to be regarded as though they are reports on employeea, for the sake of OOC.
An example (Fictional):
Urist McRobust decodes he's done with security one round. He quits, and when he is found breaking into engineering, has a fit and decides to beat up the person who tries to arrest him. However, after 50 minutes of jail time, he's home free to unleash his hatred upon the station again. This time, his contract is terminated by the captain and is confined to the permabrig. But look! Crew transfer, haha! Urist Mcrobust can see another roun--
Not so fast.
The Captain decides to, after which seeing it was an extended round, submit a complaint against Urist McRobust. Other crew, agreeing on the captains views, also post in favor of Urist's contract termination and removal. So thus he is removed with the mandate of CC officers, and the issue is done.
Why?
A lot of reasons. First of all, people are chucklefucks ICly and receive no long term punishment for it, because it's all IC and stuff. Similarly, people can get away with heinous crimes as a non antag, and be seen on shift the next shift. This will not only filter out the people that would not be on a Corporate Reaerach center, but also encourage people not to take on jobs they can't handle, or commit crimes they shouldn't, or just plain be bad. Please note, that the examples here are to the extreme. Small things will be handled with paycuts or mandatory overtime and the like.
Some lists.
Here's a list of some complaintable actions.
(Heads.)
Bad at command.
Terrible mistakes.
Gets a department ruined.
Spends the entire shift erping with a subordinate.
Goes SSD extremely frequently.
Lacks professionality to an extreme.
Doesn't follow orders of the captain.
Faulty loyalty implant (Cap, HoS)
Dereliction of Duties.
Failure to protect crew to the best of ability.
Drinking to an excess while in duty.
etc.
(Employees)
Dereliction of duty.
Failure to respond (Not SsD)
Unprofessional behaviors to an extreme.
Unable to follow orders from superior.
Really bad at their job.
Drinking to an excess while on duty.
All Corp. Reg. crimes committed as non antagonist.
Etc.
How it might look:
I'm thinking that's all I can think of now. I hope to have a mature and civilized discussion about this topic, and I would appreciate constructive criticism and edits or ideas to add to this.
