auroraserver.freeforums.net/thread/1684/whitelist-application-voting-rules-guidelinesI know we've been getting complaints for a long time now about not having any concrete standards written down anywhere for how we handle whitelists, so HERE YOU GO. It's about damn time. There's some new voting rules that haven't been there before. Votes on new apps need to include a reason why they support (or don't support, though we've never had a problem with blank -1s) the applicant. The two currently-active applications will be grandfathered in with old vote requirements. Anyway, if you have any questions regarding the rules or changes, go ahead and post 'em here.

Allow me to jam my own foot in between the door and say one thing.
-1 to your heart's content, but please, do not do so because you have not seen someone without trying to see them. Don't expect people to shine outright, specially with 40-50 people on the server. Instead, take note of their CKey, what they play, who as. And go out and find them, determine if they're whitelist material (gain an actual opinion about them, beyond just, "I've never seen you") and then comment with regards to that.
Seniors should elevate newcomers who can roleplay, guide those who are capable of learning, and only oust those who are incapable of learning. Right now, it's alot of the latter two, with not even one bit of the first. I have yet to see someone welcome a newcomer for their inround performance, pat them on the back, etc. I might be blind, but eh.

I presumed these rules were already known...although more by tongue then written word...or whatever passes for speech by OOC as tongue. Still, good work, chip chip, and all that. But what about rules against trying to seduce people for votes. WHAT OF THAT.

I AM NOT ONE OF YOUR FRIED CHICKEN TRAMPSHue. But on topic, I don't see why this wasn't enforced before.

Hue. But on topic, I don't see why this wasn't enforced before. It was enforced. Just not written down all in one place.

One more update. I've consolidated the third and fourth paragraph response questions in the Head of Staff application format into one question, because they were REDUNDANT AS HELL. We don't need two whole paragraphs on that. Most people were answering the second question with the first.
You're welcome.
For clarity's sake, a complete question overhaul may be in the works eventually to cut back on the... obtuseness of the current questions, but not now.

Hi. I really like the new whitelist apps, but. Is there any plan to replace the custom item whitelist with one that doesn't require wordwall vomit.
Thanks.

That would be a question for Skull! I do not manage custom item applications, only whitelists.
I get the feeling that the wordwall is partially still in place to discourage people from making many custom item apps, since they take more work to actually implement on the server than whitelists.

That was the original reason why I chose the 1000 word limit indeed Lessick, but Skull might have other reasons for keeping it.

I'm willing to do that if I am permitted to start heavy-handing the idiotic ones, like requesting a full trenchcoat, boots and hat combo (because holy fuck, you will not bring that shit to work).

Yess. You have my approval for that. I mean, if you wanted it. You're kind of the host. You can already do that if you want.
Yes.
In truth, I have no interest nor want for a custom item but I just hate wordwall apps. They're just kind of terrible, you know. And there's this great make-apps-less-awful initiative thing going on, sooo. Just thought I'd pitch in.

As a note, a new addition was made to the Head Application guidelines, to reflect better on a change we have been enforcing but that was not directly specified in the rules until now:
