Quick hashed-together guide on vamps before the server goes up. Will probably update in greater detail later.
Vampires! They are bluespace entities that subsume a person's identity, much like a changeling. They have two pools, total blood and useable blood. Only by draining the bodies of the living of their blood will vampires acquire *useable blood,* which is used to fuel their stronger powers. As total blood rises, vampires become more and more powerful and unlock more abilities. A full power vampire is extremely dangerous. Keep in mind you never, ever regenerate useable blood. Have to drink more to get more.
Weaknesses:
About 10-15u of holy water will put a vamp in crit.
Being bapped by the null rod will notify the chaplain that you are a vampire as well as drain you of your powers for an extreeemly long time, unless you're at full power.
Unless you're at full power, you can't use your powers in the chapel.
Starlight will vaporize you. Do not go into space. You will be husked before your body hits the floor, and your body will hit the floor very, very quickly.
Vampiric abilities:Vamps start with a low cooldown rejuvenate which removes all active stuns on you, a long-cooldown stun on everyone within one tile of you, and hypnotize, which will stun someone who stands still after a short delay for a very, very long time. Hypnotize eats 20 useable blood. Glare is the stun, and I will probably be nerfing it in the future.
After you've reached 100 total blood, you unlock thermalvision and shapeshift. Shapeshift is broken so you only unlock thermalvision. Sorry.
At 150, things start to get interesting. You unlock diseased touch and cloak of darkness. Diseased touch will give someone shutdown syndrome after a very short time. If they aren't treated, they'll be dead in minutes. With our competent and capable medical staff (Ha-ha.), odds are pretty good they'll survive, so I recommend using it on people you really hate out of spite. It eats 100 useable blood. Cloak of darkness gives you the lame alien hunter cloak, but only in the darkness. It -will- make your sprite slightly pale in fully lit areas, so people might metagame with that. Be careful.
At 200, you get summon bats. It only summons one bat because code issues, but this bat is a killing machine. Costs like 60 blood. May be changed in the future. Your rejuvenate will now cause you to regenerate damage. And you get the screech, which will stun everyone in a four-tile radius as well as shatter all nearby windows. I will probably be nerfing this in the future too.
At 250, you get shadowstep. This brings you to a nearby dark tile. -Can- teleport you through walls. I'll let you think of the implications of that.
Finally, at 300, you get mistform and enthrall. Mist form is basically the wizard's jaunt, except it costs you useable blood. Has a low blood cost. Will probably increase later. Enthrall turns someone into your loyal minion after a few seconds. It costs 150 blood. How you roleplay it happening is up to you. Minions!
At 500, you have full power. Your thermal vision turns into X-ray vision, and you are no longer weak to holy things. Starlight will still fry you though.
Side note: Harm intent, target head to bite. Draining someone takes a long time. Remember that you -do not- have to kill everyone you drink from!
