Right, so I have a feeling I will get shot down. But I still want to suggest it anyway.
Audible alarms for different situations, just like on real commercial/military vessels/facilities. Situations such as: - PowerPlant Casualty: For if an engineer becomes severely injured whilst working on the engine. My idea for this one would be a local sound within medbay, activated by a button located somewhere within engineering. (CE's office, Monitoring Room, PA Room, Engine Room,) Could be one or more.
- Quarantine: An alarm that is either controlled from a new console within the bridge, or plays automatically with the Virus Biohazard CentComm message?
- Breach/Fire: Activate from a new console on the bridge OR automatically when the station alert consoles change from green to red (Major Alert)
- Evacuate/Abandon Ship: Activated from new console on bridge OR automatically when the emergency shuttle is called?
- Code Red/Delta: Activates with Code Red/Code Delta automatically.
I am currently looking into sound files and can provide a few examples of what I have/am looking at. I am generally looking at sounds I can gather that are currently used on US Navy vessels, and commercial vessels.

Even though I am the individuals who loves nothing else more than flying a severly beaten A-10 on DCS back to base, with the Master Caution warning constantly blaring and bitching Betty trying to orient my attention to the million and one bullet holes that now exist in the fuselage, a constant alarm is something I am opposed to.
However.
Short cuts, perhaps one or two cycles, at LOWERED levels (heaven forbid I blow out eardrums) may add more atmosphere to the game. Yessum on that. Or, if we want to get spiffier, an option to whether someone wants them constantly playing or not. But that's for later investigation.

Of course. I am not implying that I want something constantly playing or stupidly loud.
All I personally want is 5-20 second clips (What I have so far) that can be played at a level capable of ALERTING someone, not deafening them.

Master caution though... We need to add master caution if a mech's HP is running low, or their controls get damaged, or they get locked down.
And THAT needs to be constant.

So Potential Alarms (with sounds): Engineering Casualty Alarm: puu.sh/aEx6h/87dcf70611.mp3 Operated by button press (located within Engineering.) Preferably a LOCAL alarm with output inside medical. If purpose doesn't seem neccessary I am willing to change this one to GLOBAL (All station) with purpose being Engineering Emergency (I.e. Power Failure, Gas Leak, Singularity Failure, etc. Emergency Evacuation Alarm: puu.sh/aExja/c9d592e919.mp3Seven short tones, followed by one long tone over 30 seconds. Operated either via console or potentially automatically when emergency shuttle is called played globally to whole station. Purpose is to inform all personnel to evacuate to the nearest escape pod or the escape wing. Breach/Fire Alarm: puu.sh/aExxT/aece280287.mp3I am willing to have this one either activated by station alert console station wide when it changes from nominal (green) to priority alert (red flashing) or activated much like a modern firealarm (Break glass/button) I will add to this list once I gather anymore suitable alarms/sirens.

I almost panicked when I saw this.
But yeah, as long as it's not deafening or annoying or constant...I'm fine with it. It might actually be a good idea.

I like the medical alert idea for a local alarm. If the PA system is still in the code possibly a button in each department [Sec/Engi/Sci/Cargo] that locals in medical wing
One beep: [Emergency Evacuation Alarm: puu.sh/aExja/c9d592e919.mp3], PA voice: [Department] Repeat once.
And give it a delay [60 seconds?] after pressing so there is no griffer spaming

I wonder, would implementing something like this create lag like midis do?

The klaxon never did, so I don't think so.

Though I'm sure my opinion is a bit late and might be a bit less weighty, might I bring up the fact that sometimes atmos alarms, engineering alarms, and other alarms last for quite some time. I don't know about you, but even a light alarm over and over again would make me go loony. I'm not saying that some type of audible alert in the location of a department monitoring computer, would not be a good idea, indeed it would help in many situations. But if I had to hear a small beeping over an air alarm about a room that was blown to smithereens over and over, I think I would go insane. Just saying. Sure there are solutions and some folks will say, "Well turn your volume down" and that will be a possibility...just bringing up a single little flaw.

I'm taking this on, I'll update with more information later because, tired. I will be setting up a way that you can turn them off, for if you do not wish to hear them. Mainly because I like my music All input is welcome before, during, and after something gets implemented, and I will always look at what everyone has said.

This was another thing from observing the Goon servers that I loved... the fire alarm beeps on the wall fire control buttons. Someone would bomb the bar and after the echo of the explosion, the soft beeping really adds the drama to it X3
