So, I was reading Gollee's thread on Lirits and the Cortical Borer popped into my head. They're these little guys in case you didn't know: baystation12.net/wiki/index.php/Cortical_Borer (horrible wiki page. I could make one so much better)
So now I often play these little guys if a admin lets me and often I end up getting squashed. Even the wiki will vouch for me in the fact that they aren't at all the easiest antag role to play. And even then on a heavy roleplay server where half the people don't always try to smoosh you. Anyway, here we go:
Numbah wan: Medical HUDs
I 'unno if this has been discussed before and then shot down because ingame people always shoot me down for suggesting it... But yea. Here is how I see it: A medical heads up display is essentially a small ranged scanner. It (or at least it should) picks up minor information about the target's physical status, compared to that attained by a health scanner or body scanner. If it picks up all the conditions then why the hell don't we make the health scanner ranged. Anyway, I just don't see a small piece of equipment on the side of someone's head being able to pick up a teeny tiny worm inside someone's skull. Maybe the brain damage. But then just the brain damage. Health scanner? Sure. Full body scanner? Absolutely. Medical HUD? Not in my opinion.
Numbah too: Hiding
Cortical borers are very very small. Despite their sprite looking a meter long (I'll hint on that just now) they are actually small enough to crawl into your ear. Being so small, I thing they should be able to hide under a lot more things. Consoles, chem dispensers, people, etc. (I think the fact that a person can obstruct a borer's path is bullshit). Also what I would want to see, but I can picture many many people against this, is the hiding under floor tiles. Because if they are small enough to squeeze into your ear, then they can squeeze in under a tile. There's space for pipes down there right? Why not a teeny worm? Also I'd say they could be able to squeeze through the cracks in airlocks... But airlocks are airtight so... No.
Numbah tree: Sprite
I know, the sprite is enlarged for the sake of actually being able to see the thing but come on. Can't we atleast make it smaller? For something so small it shouldn't have a lot of detail, so I don't see such a big sprite as necessary. I usually have to tell people in LOOC: " this worm is actually VERy small guys, its just a enlarged sprite". So I'unno. Maybe 2-3 pixels thick and 6-8 pixels long?
So there. I think this'll mekkit better. Post your suggestions/hate mail/love letters and stuff.
