Look, Our current handcuff system doesnt make sense. handcuffs dont actually stop you from USING your hands, you can still claw/hit/rub/caress things.
As such, we need some kinda sci fi cuffs that cover your hands with metal dome things that would make a bit more sense as to why you can't just tickle your captor. Maybe some things around the arms, to point why they cant cuff bash you.
On a side note, being hit in the head with hand cuffs on a mans arms REALLY REALLY REALLY hurts.

Handcuffs make sense as they are. They're easily identified. Also, just assume you're being led by the cuffs or something, or just emote things. You know, because this is a role play server.

I like Nik's idea, though. Sci-Fi cuffs would be cool.

Like, when you put them on, it generates a forcefield over the person's hands, disabling them from use. Maybe put a failsafe mechanism that takes two minutes to work, too?

Yeah, Chaz, people aren't gonna approve if you wanna roleplay smash their teeth out of their head, because you've been cuffed frontly and have the ability to Wonder-Woman people's faces.

Then you adminhelp that they're causing bad rp and forcing you? And if you want cuffs changed just because you can do these little game breaking things, then we may as well change a crap ton of other stuff. Like beds.. Because you can attack other people while still on a bed.
The point is, you're meant to role play and NOT abuse game mechanics. Which is against server rules.

Here's an issue. Handcuffs are only half of the equation.
The other half is how the individual is held, and who has control over who. If an individual is being dragged, then the individual draggin them would be very, very capable of stopping and/or dodging any attempts at stupidity that the cuffed individual may commit to. Specially if the one dragging the other is actually trained.
I may have a few ideas to facilitate this, however.
That, to me, seems to be what you're after.
As far as the sprites are concerned... No? Okay, there is only one change that I am willing to make: we change the metal handcuffs to zipties.
Now, lemme explain. Why. Oh god why. Would you need to invest into something magical like a forcefield generator, something that drains power and takes up a lot of expensive resources, when the good old fashioned metal still works? Or better yet, cheaper plastic, with zipties. Not reusable, but eh.

(AKA in the slot of two pairs of handcuffs, you have kit to arrest 12 people. ) And take about 1m20s to break out of. (So in the middle between cuffs and cable) Just awaiting your goahead Mr.Skull once you get onto Skype after work.

Sam, I know what you mean, that's why I've always assumed our handcuffs have some sort of release button that is only accessible by someone not in them, so it's in a place that's impossible to reach as the receiver of the cuffs.

Here's a skoppy solution. Handcuffs tie the hands together with force field stuff. And then shoot a rope around the arms to prevent arm movement, and their arms cover their IDs, preventing airlocks from opening for them. Bonus points if the handcuffs form a gag.
