Werlll I diddin wanna. Cuz it wasn't a big deal. But I see other people doing what I did and then nothing happens? Anyway. Username: Mr. Majestic Admin username: Frances Admin rank: Tree Admin (Tertiary Admin) Reason for complaint: I dunno how to put it in one sentence or a couple of phrases. So I'mma just give you guys the incident and whatever. So, quite some time ago I posted a response to a unban request (spacevoidagent's one, I do believe) in a, how you would say, unserious format. This caught the attention of our dear Frances, and the post was deleted. I then received this: Your post on the thread auroraserver.freeforums.net/thread/1554/legitimate-unban-reguest been deleted. The post's contents were Please be aware that the Unban Appeals section is a serious board. As such, we ask that you only post there if you have constructive comments, which you believe add to the discussion. Please refrain from making inappropriate or off-topic comments on such boards in the future. Now, this is a perfect example of Frances doing her job. And I have no problem with it. It's just... Why. If it bothered you that much Francey baby you could have put that lengthy message to use and told me, "Majestic, this post aint right, fix it or I will delete it." Because as you can see the post itself (if you look past the broman stuff) is quite legitimate. I can refer you to this one other thread where I posted a query then Pump posted something like a warning that any off topic posts will be deleted. Seeing that he was assuming to mine, I reacted by editing the post. Same as what I WOULD have done if Frances WOULD have just sent me a message. Toppit off she pushed me 1 10th of the way to getting banned from forums. Okay, so she did her job. Maybe a bit over the top or too hasty or whatever but it was done. BUT WAI YOU STOP, GURL. I see posts that are more off topic than mine was (some not even carrying a legitimate response towards the topic being discussed), and then I see them again. And they stay there. Untouched. I still love you Frances, but relli. Wai you do dis to meh. Wai. Maybe it isn't in my place to post complaints while there is still a complaint agaist me up here, and maybe its just the tiredness making me a bit extra grumpy. But yea.

Nope. Serious board, serious replies. No need for asinine speech, the contents of your post matter little if you can't express them in a decent and comprehensible manner. And I really believe you can. If you want to write your post again in a more acceptable format, go ahead. I'mma also put dis here. Frances knew what she was doing, and she dun diddit good. But I really think she could have just told me to redo the post. This isn't much of a complaint but where would I put it?

HUNRGH, (don't tell me I just wrote a dumb post making no sense whilst I sit here sleep deprived... Hopefully, come dawn, I'll be refreshed and rejuvinated, as to read this through and edit) here is how it is:
I made a post with a unserious format, Frances responded, but rather harshly... Unless you guys think its fine then k. But now I see unserious posts and nothing gets done?

I will not step in upon Frances's behalf, due to neutrality rules. I will however step in on behalf of the forums of which I administrate.
The "serious boards" are both the application and complaints boards. We(staff)/I expect that all users understand the relevance of these boards. Their intent and purpose. That the environment displayed is to be of a mature and professional level. It does not help, when statements are written out in such formats as you have done so yourself. It does not help the staff formulate a decision, nor does it help the thread itself, as it would only clutter due to the point not being communicated properly. It also does not help if the statement has no beneficial factor to the threads intention.
You received a warning for displaying such of the above mentioned points, if not all. To further that, you have also shown within this thread, that you have failed to understand those points and the warning given to you. I would strongly recommend that you thoroughly think about the conduct you've displayed in relation to these events and come to an understanding as to the entire purpose of the warning.

I made a post with a unserious format, Frances responded, but rather harshly... Unless you guys think its fine then k. But now I see unserious posts and nothing gets done? Everything has a time and place. General discussion, off-topic, whatever; you can apply your mode of thought there freely. But, admin complaints and more objective oriented boards? Yeah, you'll receive a notice like this. As did anyone, and will everyone, else who has done the same. Except, they just don't make admin complaints about it.
Generally speaking, there are two mods of dealing with ever-persistent issues with this: either subtly, and by nudging people in the right direction. Or flat out telling them to walk down the proper pathway. In this instance, the latter mode was used with the approval of, and in accordance with recommendations from, myself and Pumpkingslice, as well as majority of the Administration staff. To further my point, this MO was applied into affect a week ago, and will not be applied retroactively. Because that would be shit. Instead, we elected to deal with these issues as they arise, starting from that point onwards. And so we have done, I've literally twitched every morning, as I wake up to see my "Admin" tab have a "1" next to it. Meaning, Administrative action has been taken/is required on a forum post. Third point: how to approach an issue. A friendly approach, or a cold, detached approach. Use one, or the other, but do not mix them. FFrances used the latter, and she applied it appropriately. There is nothing harsh about her messages, they are simply frank, and to the point. If you want, then you'll have me remove your posts without question, and fly down your lane because you are my responsibility to deal with, and keep in line.
To summarize: I see no issues with the actions take by staff. Understand their purpose and intent, and move forwards in accordance with them.

But I'm not complaining about what the staff is doing... I get it, its good, keep going. Buuuut why does it look like only I am being punished like this? As I said, notification BEFORE the deletation of my post would have been a lot better (in my opinion).

As I said, notification BEFORE the deletation of my post would have been a lot better (in my opinion). We're trying to keep the forums clean. While rules and warnings serve as preventive measures, it doesn't make sense to leave the offending posts there. I did tell you to redo the post: I made sure to send you its contents via PM should you wish to rewrite it, and even gave you time to do so, to which you declined, replying As for other off-topic posts, they should not be there. I have not been made aware of any, but if you see some, please do report them. If you had taken the time to take the steps anyone can take to at least attempt to get these posts removed before submitting a complaint calling to selective enforcement of the rules, you would add a lot more credibility to your argument. I do not think there were any instances of favoritism taking place here. You must remember that we can't cover every single infraction to the rules on our own, and if you see something, it would be appreciated you report it to us before telling us we are not doing our job. As for the rules on off-topicness in serious boards, they are in full effect, as explained by Pumpking. If you still feel like you have been treated unfairly here, then I apologize for the inconvenience this incident might have been to you, and am ready to discuss it further.

Its isn't as much of a complaint as you think, I just didn't know where else to put it? And you dit killit, Frances. Becuz its like "Pow. Screw you. Type it again if you want but this ain't goin' thru." I'MMA STILL HOLD ON TO MAI TALK FURST ACT LATER SUGGESTION. Hur.
Oh, and I never mentioned anything about favourites? YOU GOT SOMETHIN' TO SAY?! (I jest) I'm just seeing myself treated differently here (for some odd reason). Off topic posts are dealt with, of course... But not as harshly/quickly/well as mine was handled.

(I jest) I'm just seeing myself treated differently here (for some odd reason). Off topic posts are dealt with, of course... But not as harshly/quickly/well as mine was handled. 1. You could have simply pasted from the copy of your post I sent you, and worked on it from there. This was of no perceivable inconvenience to you, and we won't go around waiting for people to remake their posts without a guarantee that they actually will, when it's just as easy for them to repost them with proper fixes (given that we don't completely delete the content off the forum). 2. This can imo be considered an issue of favoritism because your main argument/topic is that certain of these posts are being removed and others not. 3. If you reported (validly) offending posts, you would find them dealt with much faster; this is nothing but a case of us not seeing some of them. The next step you can really take following this thread is to use the report function to make sure these posts are brought to our attention.

As I said, notification BEFORE the deletation of my post would have been a lot better (in my opinion). The notification I gave for the first time, was the initial warning to not continue this further. You had continued it further to which action was taken. I apologise if you feel targeted but staff must take an approach to ensure future offenses of this nature are prevented to allow smooth flow within the serious boards. Verbal warnings on a thread are an initial indicator that future occurrences will most likely result in action being taken.

Is Frances female? Wait, does that even matter?
Ehm, I like Frances. He(she?) has been a bit of a butt about seriousness, but otherwise I've gotten along well enough, although I imagine they have a few choice words.
We should keep a modicum of seriousness, In some matters, at least, so I'd agree with Frances.
