Nothing really too fancy to say here. I'm not a particular fan of the current PDA sprites; they are ill-fitting when compared to basically all other art assets this game uses. The colors aren't harsh enough and they're not hardlined, and the alpha channel of the holographic interface isn't translucent enough so it ends up looking displeasing. As such I went ahead and redid them all to look like actual PDAs I guess. Chemist, Medical Doctor, Virologist, Geneticist, CMO Scientist, Roboticist, RD Atmos Technician, Engie, CE Security Officer, Warden, Detective, HOS Standard, Janitor, Chaplain, Lawyer, Librarian Shaft Miner, Cargo Tech, QM Botanist, Chef, Bartender, HOP, Captain SyndieKats

Decent icons, I personally think don't fit in anymore than the current sprites and I prefer our current icons. They look far too cartoony and goofy than anything else in the game

WAI YOU WANT US TO DOWN GRADE?!
No seriously. This is the future. Err'thang is slick, or holographic or whatever the fuck. Personally I think that the current PDAs could use a re-sprite, not a total remake just a change of colors and shading and maybe a teeny tiny bit more bulk (TINY). But it doesn't bother me much at all--- You know... Its funny that as soon as I'm NOT able to sprite... I have the drive to sprite a whole new line of awesome icons for the server. Fuck.

Majestic is right. Although I love the sprites, and they would fit well if we where shooting for a more 'modern' PDA, but this is 2456. I do like the current PDAs, but I feel like they could use a little bulk? I'm not sure.

Eh...I like the new ones, but they don't look like they fit in a pocket, and would be really fucking pointy in your hand. These look like they'd be comfortable enough in your hand, ya know?
Men, which consists most of us, would be aware of the pains of loose pants + edged thing in pocket + Jogging/moving even slightly fast = injured groin region.
Mind you, the sprite isn't that important, but I like these more for their realism, but I'd like the others more for style.

Is it bad, that as the co-creator of the current PDAs (majority credit to... Megpowell, I do believe?), I kind of like the ones presented here better <.< >.> ?
They have this whole, "HEY! I've got actual shading" spiel going on that I could never catch the bus of.
Buuut, it doesn't matter. I do believe the necessary gears were set in motion yesterday.

If its shading and textures you're after, skusku... Then w can have the current ones redone. And yes these ones here do have more shading and better textures- Its not all there. Like that really purple one. Its just like- BAM. PURPLE. And some of the designs here make the buttons either almost invisible, or very contrasted. I 'unno. I still prefer the current ones- Just give 'em a redo.

Why not both? If that's an option.
I see a PDA as an actual personal thing that people keep with them, whether at home or work; the ID and cartridge slot just being for work convenience. If possible, an option to choose from a multitude of PDA designs and models wouldn't be too terrible a thing, in my opinion.
If that option is still in the air of being able to spawn with cigarettes, or green shoes, then I think this'd be a pretty nice addition to those options.

Knowing how secretive any current tech companies can be, you can be sure that future-NanoTrasen would make sure to only issue company-mandated, severely regulated tech equipment to the crew of a station that does highly confidential plasma research. I see NT as one of these present-day corporations which are not "bring-your-own-comp", but rather provide their own, regulated and controlled equipment.

I always personally viewed the PDAs as our own individual phones that we have now. Or I did. But as you say, it wouldn't make sense to bring your own device capable of espionage and the-like. Though I would still like to see the option if possible, as I don't like seeing good sprites go to waste. Perhaps these being a newer or older model that are still in rotation, perhaps. If it's A or B, however, I'd personally prefer the reworks majestic proposed. I think these PDA's look nice and all, but they seem to have a slight dated look to them, reminiscent of the square things we had before.

They look modern. Which is weird in the 25th century We have an oddly modern theme, it's not exactly amazing continuatity of theme. Our computers are CRT shaped, we have oldy ass beds instead of any kind of super future material stuff, fire extinguishers are just big red tubes, so on and so forth. They look like they are functional over fashionable, I'd say.

They look modern. Which is weird in the 25th century Ever look at any of our modern styled furniture, extinguishers, and other such nonsense. We sort of have a crack in our continuity in design, I think, and they look more function able, like the shit house phones a company gives it's workers. Nokia's and shit.

I think these PDA's look nice and all, but they seem to have a slight dated look to them, reminiscent of the square things we had before. As I sort of previewed in our little end of the round round at centcom, I proposed that all PDAs were owned by the person, for personal use. I figured, if NT was already monitoring all messages in and out and interthrough the station, they would also take your PDA for a moment and sort through any data that is deemed bad to take home, as well as take your I'd and cartridge. It makes more sense, considering even today smart phones are being used for work purposes, and gos knows the kind of handheld devices, or what they would be capable of, would be available in the 25th century. Although people would call that big brother... Yes. It is big brother. NanoTrasen already monitors every little thing on the nss aurora, as well as having people tracking implanted, death alarmed, loyalty implanted... Hell, they even had guards in the cc dorms. So, I do view PDAs as personal devices.
