We'll that's why this lovely thing is OPTIONAL. You don't have to do it if you don't wana. Would you rather mash disarm till they fall and attack em in the head after, fine. You can. It's optional.

If people RP getting their ass whupped, and then they come to medbay and I'm playing medical staff, I will quite happily RP treat their damage. Unless there's idiots everywhere, organ failure epidemics or something else, Medbay can get very dull.
