IPCs are almost finished, but still very flawed. With the patch that no longer allows people to repair their own prostetics (IPCs included), I think Robotics needs a supply of IPC torsos for the event that an IPC is destroyed and their head is salvagable. Head reattachment would allow IPCs a second chance if they do dumb shit, just like the humans. Also add in something along the lines of CMD for robots, like Positronic trauma to forget death things.

I like this, but the positronic trauma thing seems uneeded. They are devices capable of storing lots of data, therefore they are made a bit on the robust side. Not to mention if the head is salvagable then the posi unit should be left mostly untouched. The reason people have Clone Memory Disorder is because of their biological structure, and the way cloning works. The brain cannot survive on it's own, and they would only remember things up until their last genetic backup. But now positronic brains can function without any external assistance. I mean I've been destroyed as a cyborg with a posi brain many times, and they just pop me into a new body.

Maybe a machine to redownload Positronic personalities into new bodies? That would circumvent the memory loss issue, primarily them not losing memory; they wouldn't have CMD, but they would be slightly disturbed that they had lost data.

My IPCs remember things up to the point of head detachment. The power source is disconnected, so they don't save the data of that point afterward. They don't treat death as death. Merely an unproper shutdown.

Oh god... I can imagine a traitor decapping an IPC in the dark, thinking they are a human, then a minute later the head yelling, "Now why the hell did you have to go and do that?"

The head wouldn't be active though, Gowey. It's detached from the torso, which is where I consider the power source to be. That'd be meta as fuck for a head to do that.

Meow, positronic brains can speak on their own. You never been a posi? I have, and anyone else who has would know that once you are in one, you can speak. This would mean that not only does the positronic have its own power source of some kind, but it also has a voice synthesizer in place.

Maj. For IC sake, IPCs can't do that. They're stuck inside their head, and not removed, so, I chose not to let them speak to keep whatever killed me hidden.

The reason of the "CMD" is for a game balance, the same reason CMD exists. To stop antags from getting called out when they're cloned. The last thing I want after I attach a poor sap's head is to hear "JASON KILLED ME".

That would just make killing an IPC so much more fun, you get to burn the head! Oorah!

I don't know how well this would bode with the rest of you guys, but what about an IPC storage room, in place of the Construction Room or something; if an IPC is destroyed, it's soul(whatever) is transferred to an empty shell in the IPC storage room; there would be like ten, or twenty of them in the room. Or you could have it designed like the drone system in Engineering.

That doesn't make too much sense at all, figuring their brains are what is making them alive in the first place, they don't have network capabilities (As far as anyones aware) and it just seems bad in general. Not to mention it gives traitors a headache to have to kill their target like 20 times.

Well, I've thought of a solution to your predicament: there's a catch to the IPC storage. The IPC player must be alive for a certain amount of time during the round, to "qualify" for a transfer. Think of the wait time, as the network is synchronizing the information onto their brain into some major main frame located near an AI core or something like that; if the IPC dies after like five minutes into the round, they're just dead. If the IPC dies after like 1:30 minutes into the round, they synchronize into the new IPC.

IPC chassis are very expensive, there would not be a storage room full of fully functional androids which would be ready to activate and begin working on a research station regardless. It just wouldn't work ICly and oocly.
