Subs Thoughts
Okay, I've never really made a suggestion before but I think this is stuff we really need.
Our server has got some of the best story tellers and creative minds in byond. I think we should be doing more things to actively grow our OWN story unique to our server.
What I mean by that is doing more things here in the fourms. We have all this lore yet it hardly ever does anything to affect gameplay. Maybe you bring up another corporation once and a while but never enough to say it's an active part of your story.
The first thing we need to do is make an enemy. Star Wars had the empire. Doctor who has daleks. We need an enemy and this enemy needs to be powerful and deadly. Since we are a sci-fi I say it should be a alien race who was thought to be extinct that jumps out of deep space and begins causing problems.
We also need more stuff to carry over to rounds with more cannon rounds. For example, a traitor blows up the bar and is later shot dead by the sec team. The devs can update the map to make the bar destroyed and under-reconstruction until the next update. This will help make people want to do things IC more and it will actualy do thigs.
Also, use the forms more. We can have entire other big story points going on here on the fourms. We can make our server have a real space epic going on...with out station and characters at the center of this conflict.
Ideas, opinion, thoughts?

Well the syndicate are the threat/rival for NT but I'm presuming you're more inclining towards a threat only to our station/system?
In regards for the map.. That wouldn't really be viable. It takes quite some time to load and have the map up iirc. Possibilities of 30mins - an hour, though experienced mappers/hosts are your best bet for this. When everything has gone downfall but there are no threats, NT sends the infamous clean up crew who come on and warp time to back when the station was alive and not full of evil crew.
It is encouraged that players create their own, viable, lore in game. Heck, one guy (sorry I forgot your name >.<) has a chaplain who worships the pizza surprise pack, to which staff intervened and.. Played his god.
Back to a natural enemy. I'm totally calling for a Rogue super AI that has bots, borgs and mechs at its disposal. Because mech battles are best battles.

Syndicate aren't a full on corporation though. They aren't a threat and everyone knows about them. We need a real enemy. Someone who is larger than life!
And I don't think changing up the map to go along with every major update we have is a big problem.

And I don't think changing up the map to go along with every major update we have is a big problem. It really depends on the scale of what needs to be done, and on the schedules of myself, Skull and Mocheeze. The thing with this though, from the mappers perspective, the admins/mods are going to have to keep detailed track of the results of major rounds, and put together a brief/intel package for the mappers to work from.

The thing with this though, from the mappers perspective, the admins/mods are going to have to keep detailed track of the results of major rounds, and put together a brief/intel package for the mappers to work from. I assumed something along those lines. I'm not talking about changing the map every round to go along with what happened last round. That's just not going to happen. But if we say have 2 cannon rounds we can change up the map to affect this. You know, maybe there was a large presenter of an enemy organization and due to that security is now on heightened alert. Causing more equipment to be ready in the armory at round start until the next update. And for an enemy I'm talking someone powerful. We could start with having little posts her on the fourms until an admin goes and does an event station side to get it started. Maybe an artifact is found by archeology. The map could change to have a full blown secondary expedition sight made up somewear on the map. Throw in a bunch of random science things to let science try and figure out. Creates RP and is fun. Then this big enemy finally shows it's face and we can use the fourms to have the big conflicts going on. Involving the majority of fighting not on station. Our military characters could be involved, all of them could. We can have our characters be as cool and bad ass as we all see them. Back onto these updates. Perhaps make every update related to this story an "Episode" kind of like a tv show. We could have our first "season" were everything starts to build up and eventually go into the second were the main conflicts begin to happen.

Very easily done, recently I have been looking into several concepts for advanced alien races, hostile, neutral and friendly.

Every great sci-fi story has a enemy. Why don't we!? And I don't mean xeno's or lings. I'm talking a full on organized race ready to kill you on sight

I love this idea.
I'm a bit iffy on the alien race that's hostile towards the NSS Aurora...

The Syndicate is an amalgamation of powerful corporation's that are strong on their own, but nothing compared to NT until they joined up, it's a good enemy, Sub Sent from my HTC Desire 300

I have a few ideas for potentially hsotile, but distracted Alien species. EG, species that are currently working on the extermination of others. However, having the 'big bad' is always good, but there's something that SS13, and our server, has really broken out of.
That humanity is weak and there's always better techies than us.
I really like the feel that humanity is in control. Of course, there are likely other, more advanced species roaming the universe, but why would they pay attention to us?
To emphasise thefact that "fuck yeah, humanity," a really viable 'big bag' is something to what Pump said. Some sort of conglomeration of intelligences, or a hivebrain of synthetics.
It can be easily done, too. Considering how easily robots, ai's, and cyborgs are emagged, malfed, and their laws changed, it could happen quickly, and without anyone noticing until it's too late.
Besides. There's always something fun about having killer machines that can't be bargained with. Can't be reasoned with. Don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.
(If you get that reference, I love you.)

Gah.. I should probably finish up that one race for the lore, right Gollee? Whether it'd be implemented or not is another question.
Back onto main topic. Before starting a full on series we need to try out smaller.. Podcasts lets say. Leore has tried a pirate series, and as well planned as it is, it may or may not have died off. I believe it may have simply been with how the crew decided to react, kill everything, defy legit rp then text chat when the round is dead. I'm not saying no to the idea, I'm saying that it needs to be practiced and implemented to the point where people will understand that it is frowned upon to end the round right there and then so 'they look cool'.
Once that is sorted, there's literally limitless possibilities. I mentioned subverted AI's as it's possibly one of the easiest major threats to create and get going. Pirates could be revised and started again. Bandits are a thing too, but probably wont go for stations. Having a 'mercenary/bounty hunter' faction might work. (no not ninjas) It'd make use of all those items we have lying around in the code and could potentially add diversity to a story line. As we have a syndicate network set up on the forums, there could potentially be a bounty hunter network, freelancers or an actual group that's obviously not easily apprehendable.
All in all a something to spice up the week would work very well, especially now we are entering a season for lots of players.

Tool, you have all this lore but....it's not even here on the fourms. It's called being too lazy to write most of it up, I'm working on Chymera lore atm, but usually a lot of the lore is stored in my mind palace, or in Gollee's fridge Sent from my HTC Desire 300
