Okay but let's think about crawling through a vent: you are squeezing through small spaces in a sheet of metal covering a hole that circulates air throughout the station via use of a large tunnel network.
Now let's think about things that can crawl through vents: Mice, they are small mother fuckers. Diona Nymphs, they are wormie thingies that came out of pod. It can be assumed that they are unevolved as far as the diona growth process goes, and that their "bark" (skin) is still soft. Allowing their body the ability to squeeze into a vent. Monkeys.... Eh. This one is complicated. I guess, they lift the metal cover somehow? I don't know. It'd be physically impossible for your average monkey to just squeeze into a vent. And now, another one: the alium. Hunters can crawl through vents, and I can't remember whether that leaves the vent in a state or not... How it SHOULD be, is after a xeno crawls through a vent, that vent is clawed open and unable to be welded closed without being repaired again. Because really, if I were a alien and I wanted to crawl through this hole thing in the ground, I'd use my badass claws to tear dat sucker up.
Now... These lil' guys, they are made of metal. All above stated creatures atleast have squishy parts. "But Majestic! Spiderbots are made of metal, and they can crawl through vents!" Yes. I know. And also in my opinion the spiderbot code needs a big update, but it can be assumed they use their little claws to open the vent somehow. Now a drone, (taking into account the fact that they can be worn as a hat, and take up the whole top piece of the head when worn) is pretty big for a thing that would crawl through a vent. Also I personally don't think they have to be able to crawl through vents, from a OOC perspective it'd just be giving them access to places they shouldn't be "But Majestic, when played right, that won't matter to a drone. The only thing that matters is that I can now move around super fast!" Well yes. I see. But this is all just my idea of the situation.

they open the vents with their tools, and when they get in, they close it, same thing when they try to get out?

The disposals system will, half of the time, deposit drones in cargo, regardless of where they want to go.
I support vent travel!

Drones are able to travel through the mail, but it doesnt work on this station for some reason. It works, because I have done it, however this was before the map update to command/medical, so depending where you tried to get to it might not work because disposals suck, one of the things I hate about mapping.

Drones have access to everywhere aside from the AI core, which nobody should be going into anyway for a daily stroll.
All a drone should be doing is silent chair rp and talking to malfunctioning attack drones. Because you can actually converse with them and not get banned/shot down by attack drone.

You can talk to the attack drone?

Yes. It's a drone.
Pro Tip. Don't let other players see you talking to attack drones or they will think you have problems. Attack drones don't actually have conversations with you, but we're heavy role play remember.
