This would ideally be an event for a fairly healthy character roster - a captain, chef, bartender, are all pretty necessary. Then again, gangpressing the chemist into making drinks and the RD to cooking would be hilarious...
Event Hook:
A message from Central informs the crew that a VIP's shuttle has had a mechanical failure near the NSS Aurora and must dock for repair. Given the importance of the VIP, Aurora's function as a research station temporarily takes backseat to entertaining the guest - a guest who's good favor NT is very, very keen to garner.
A party must be thrown, the crew must look thier very best. Prepare the fancy drinks, fine cuisine, and by all measures, do NOT allow the VIP to to see the usual disasters, sabotage and incompetence that typically befalls stations like these. At the end of the visit - after a the VIP'S shuttle is repaired or the end of the round - the crew will be graded on thier hospitality.
Objectives/purpose:
Okay, clearly this event is slanted towards the civilian jobs - cooks, bartenders and botanists will really get a chance to shine, cargo will be struggling to bring in party supplies and formal dress in time. What I've noticed about server events is that they tend to focus on the destruction of the station/crew, meaning that if you're not an engineer or security, you're typically running around at random or playing vigilante.
This event is rp-driven, focuses around a large party that anyone can attend (under watchful eye of sec) while command desperately tries to conceal all the chaotic bullshit going on around the VIP.
Easy Mode - the VIP doesn't have a headset, and can't hear Urist Mcjackwagon calling for help when he gets ganked by slimes, or the Syndies holding the bridge hostage.
Hard Mode - several traitors now have objectives to sabotage the visit/kill the VIP.
VIP ideas:
A former NT Admiral and his wife are celebrating thier twentieth honeymoon when thier shuttle breaks down. Make sure this old scion of military precision doesn't have a heart attack while helping him and his wife celebrate.
Unathi Pop Star Sirap Notlih is stopping by. If she likes the station, she'll invest big bucks in NT's business model. If she has a terrible time, she'll be sure to mention it on her newest reality show, and stocks will take a hit.
A diplomat of the Skrell or Tajaran comes through on thier way to further solidify alliances with the human peoples. Ensure that they have a favorable opinion of the kindness and efficiency of a human-dominated station... and if you have any Skrell or Tajaran crew members, it wouldn't hurt to make sure they're highly visible and kept happy, too, as the Ambassador will no doubt want to speak with them.
