With the recent addition of the Maintenance Drones, there have been several cases of people interpreting, and misreading, their laws and purpose. So, in order to set a clear outline as to what we would expect from a maintenance drone, I'm going to write this. This will establish a baseline which will be used as references.
Drones have three laws:
The first law is self-explanatory: preserve and repair, meaning patch up any holes and make sure things don't break. "Improve" is a more complex point, but the general idea is that it should be conducted in accordance with the other two laws present.
Law two. Basic outline is "don't break things." An expanded outline should be "don't create potential for harm" as well. This would basically mean that any dangerous modifications to things like the station hull, atmospherics, etcetera need to be thought out before committing to them.
Third law, here we go. First, let's review this: www.thefreedictionary.com/interfere
Now, on target. Interfere does not mean that you cannot INTERACT with other beings. However. If and when you deem it necessary to interact with other beings, most commonly, as a drone, you'd do so with cyborgs and AI, you need to make sure that you are not disrupting their normal duties, and have the interaction be set towards achieving a goal that falls in line with the other two laws. This does NOT mean that you get to go and have fun RP-ing with humans when you should be tending to the station's needs.
A second note about interfering would be the creation of "improvements" which impede, complicated, inhibit normal operation for other crew members.
It should also be noted that the drones are expected to stay on station, regardless of the station's fate. If the station is damaged, then they will repair it until ERT arrives to salvage.
Hopefully this clears a few points on what to do as a drone.
FOR HUMAN CREW! The drones are expensive, and are expected to stay on station. Expect your character to be charged with theft if they are found carrying one to CC. Because you don't. Take them. Off station.
Drones have three laws:
1. Preserve, repair and improve the station to the best of your abilities.
2. Cause no harm to the station or anything on it.
3. Interfere with no being that is not a fellow drone.
