A True Story by halorocks22
The dual metal airlocks shut with a satisfying thud as Felix and his companion Adam frantically charged into the permabrig located in the Security Wing of the station. Outside those airlocks, down the hall, a squad of elite Emergency Response personnel were taking up positions and waiting for the two men inside, ready to turn them into swiss cheese at a moment's notice. The situation was grim. A couple of hours ago, tensions between the Heads and the crew flared resulting in a revolution of sorts to arise with Felix Solano as it's leader. In the beginning, things were going smoothly as Felix recruited several compatriots to join his cause until Nanotrasen caught up with him and his followers. In the end, the rebels were almost completely crushed into dust with only Felix and Adam still desperately fighting for what was left of the cause.
A sudden loud bang accompanied the bolts of the airlocks falling down into place, effectively trapping the men inside. The doors flashed red and Felix slightly relaxed and gave an exasperated sigh of relief; they were safe, for now. The two men were tired, very tired. Felix could see it in Adam's eyes and Adam could see it in Felix's too. They were dirty, bloody, and they had been fighting for hours. There was nowhere left to run and their fate seemed to be sealed.
Felix turned toward his comrade. "They're probably trying to trick us. Don't let your guard down, homie." he said as he gripped the laser rifle that he had 'liberated' from the armory in his hands tightly.
Adam numbly nodded and did the same as he peered outside nervously. Out of the corner of his eye, Adam noticed a box of donuts sitting on a reinforced table. His stomach grumbled. The donuts were waiting for someone to come along and 'liberate' them from their boxed paper prison. Adam turned his head towards Felix.
"Yo, dawg; mind if I grab some donuts?" he asked in a slightly quaky voice. Felix had been acting paranoid for a while now, and Adam wasn't entirely sure that his head was still in the game. To his relief, Felix answered in a similar tone. "Yeah, homeboy. Grab some for me too, yo."
Adam smiled and began to stride towards the box of donuts before he was abruptly stopped by Felix.
"Wait!" Felix shouted as he looked around the room. "Do you hear that?" he muttered. "Hear what?" Adam replied, disgruntled at the fact that his quest for donuts was rudely interrupted. Suddenly, a quiet, disturbing hissing sound filled the room followed by an obnoxious odor. Felix looked around, terrified before speaking in a loud voice. "They're gassing us! Get your internals on!" Adam obliged him as he and Felix quickly put on a pair of internals.
It was evident that the Emergency Response Team had not deemed a direct assault to be cost-effective. Instead, they pumped in N2O and hoped the pair would suffocate. Slow, but deadly. Although the two had emergency tanks available, they would only provide enough air for a maximum of thirty minutes.
The longest twenty-five minutes of Felix's life passed by as he and his companion hysterically tried to find a solution to their plight. As his air counter ran down, a shrill warning sound emanated from his emergency oxygen tank as it notified him it was almost empty.
Felix looked at his friend and briefly thought about killing him and taking his oxygen tank for his own use before deciding against it. It was over. The revolution had been stopped, and the two were going to die. Suddenly, a brilliant idea flashed through Felix's mind. The permabrig had several rooms, and it was likely that they were not yet filled with gas because of the airlocks that separated them from the other compartments.
"Adam, yo! I think we can make it!" said Felix excitedly as he stared at Adam. Adam merely glanced at him with a dull expression and said "What do you have in mind, Felix?" He had gone back to grab a donut after turning on his internals and he stared at it numbly as a result of his inability to eat it with a breath mask on his face. "Yo, man, like, follow me to the other rooms, dawg." rapped Felix. "Alright, homie." sighed Adam as the pair began to move into the bedchamber of the permabrig.
They quickly entered the room and were immediately met with a terrible, eye-watering musty odor. Felix's old comrade, Max the Security Officer, lay dead on a bed. His obese body was stained with sweat and it caused the bed to sag towards the floor. Furthermore, a small quantity of N2O had creeped in the room when the airlock opened and it caused the men to become loopy and giggle uncontrollably.
"Crap!" cursed Adam as he giggled at the same time. "What is it?" asked Felix. "I accidentally left my donut outside of the room!" Adam shouted in anger. Felix looked outside of the glass airlock and saw the frosted donut sitting on the floor. It looked delicious and the temptation to go outside and grab it, surprisingly, was extreme.
A sharp pain filled Felix's head and a deep, dark voice that ravaged his mind began to resonate in his head. "Get..that..fukken..donut.." it boomed as Felix stared outside at the donut. He began to move his hand towards the airlock controls ever so slowly, almost activating the release until Adam stopped his approach. "What are you doing?" he demanded. Felix sheepishly glanced at Adam. "Sorry, I just wanted that donut." he muttered. "You'll kill us both, you fool! Get back here!" ordered Adam. Felix began to make his way back until the dark voice took control of his mind once again. "Don't..listen..to..him..get..that..donut......be..seductive..with..it.." It commanded. Each time it spoke, it seemed to make his mind more unstable. For some reason, Felix felt.. tentacles?
He looked at Adam one last time before charging forward and opening the airlock with a guttural battle cry. Felix snatched up the donut from the floor as his vision began to go black and seductively rubbed it all over his body before wolfing it down like a mad man. Adam stared at him in horror as they both dropped to their knees.
It was the best donut Felix ever had.
