So, a few days ago I was playing detective and there was a small event going on that included Cortical Borers. Eventually, both my character and I learned that medical HUDS indicate when someone has one of those worms inside them. I requested one of those as I was the only security on the case, making it very easily to tell who's bad or not. Later, there were a bunch of people in medbay, and one of them was infected with the alien. I proceeded to immediately neutralize him, and someone started talking in LOOC, calling me a bad RP'er and Powergamer. The person playing the doctor and I tried to explain that it would only seem logical to do what we had been doing so far, but then the person stopped talking.Yes, HUD glasses make things too easy for the humans, and nearly impossible to the antagonist. So here's my proposition: remove the ability to tell who's infected by using the glasses, and to have the worms found out only by putting the host inside a scanner, or perhaps only through surgery, giving the antagonist a better chance to not get caught. Other adjustments might need to be done to the Cortical Borer itself, but it's a start. What do you think?

I was the Cort Borer that round (I is best cort borer) but I didn't know about the HUDs, never the less I tried to make it entertaining/obvious by having the people I took over sound "Alien" and do weird shit. Like deformed smiles and crap, freaking the hell out of Katie... Which was so fun.
That said, I too think the medical HUD makes it a lot easier for the humans, meaning the only way I could progress to my self set goal of assuming control of the captain, or acting captain of the station was by getting into the head of a non SSD person and convincing them to do shit for me by talking to their brain. Which is very hard considering everyone labelled the cort borer as a hostile or "EWWWW!" and stayed clear away, and even if I got into a head they'd probably just freak out and notify everyone.
So, I wouldnt mind things being made a lil' easier, but I wont power game to get to where I want, I mean I WANNA be a creepy "EWWW!" worm in your head. Its fun.

You do realise this is not play to win, right? First of all it could turn out a better rp if you didn't complain about it, you could prove that Medical HUDs are broken IC-wise and showing it all wrong. You're not a good agent appearently getting caught at the first sight and crying out of it.

That wasn't first sight Dalek. And I just said it isn't play to win. But I'd like to keep the custom minievent going as long as possible, I mean 5 mins then cort squash is really no fun for anyone.

The thing is, immediately neutralizing someone because "OHMYGOD THERE'S AN ALIEN IN THEIR HEAD KILL THEM KILL THEM KILL THEM" is bad RP. You can cordon them off, sure, but you don't "neutralize" them. You ask them questions, tell them that you want to scan them. Maybe even express disbelief over the fact. A little icon next to a health bar over their heads is not enough to warrant neutralization. You're a detective, not a Death Squad agent.
