So, I don't know whether this would be considered a game mode idea or not. But, I got the idea earlier today about having missions/quests or goals of some sort of each department. Like for engineering, build some sort of new building in space just off the station for some purpose. Or they could build some new wing for the station. Medical could have something along the lines of getting some sort of excess medicine build up set up or have them try to not exceed a certain number of deaths this shift. Security I don't know too much about but have something for them. For the Chef and Botanist, have a certain amount of food set up for the crew in case of an emergency. R&D could try to have certain research done to help increase the station overall productivity. Cargo and Mining, have so much supplies set up for the station. Just a bunch of little quests, or a big one. This would probably be great to RP and whatnot I do believe.Or on other terms, the whole station needs to work together to achieve some sort of goal before some disaster happens that has been foretold. Such things could be a spotted incoming meteor shower, an intercepted radio transmission from space pirates coming to raid the station/blow it up and the station must be fortified and prepared for defense. Honestly, this idea over all could spark up quite a few different event ideas and whatnot. Or, the it could be a general event similar to Secret where an admin chooses the warning received by the crew.I would love to know what you guys think about this idea. Leave comments with your thoughts and any mission/quest suggestions. I also have no programming or sprite making experience so this one would be all up to others to make happen if decided so.

Hmm, I like the idea of a "mass production" style event.
A rough idea for motivation, could be they have to. But not against some kind of impending doom or anything, because that always ends in mass hysteria. A paycheck boost wouldn't really be enough to have everyone working with 300% efficiency.
Possible reason for need: Station is suddenly swarmed with some kind of organism. Alien, whatever. No, not the kind that goes around protecting the queen and putting humpers on people's faces. Something a little less violent. Maybe something we haven't seen before. These creatures could have several interesting traits, such as emitting energy, depositing plasma, replication at will, change matter, change appearance....the list goes on. But replicating themselves would probably be a key factor in this.
The captain, or acting captain then sends a fax to central asking what to do. Of course, central demands they be kept and studied. Anyone caught harming the creatures will be placed in the brig (There's a job for security, there!). Problem with that, is that the creatures overpopulate and there's hardly any living space or working space for the crew. Complaints are sent to central, but of course they expect the crew to resume normal duties while adopting this new one. Engineers must build some new rooms on the station to house them. Researchers must set up laboratories in those rooms, moving equipment or making some in them to properly study (could possibly be some unique kinds of equipment) them. Medical makes sure they are healthy. Since I don't foresee too many people trying to hurt them, the creatures could slowly deteriorate without medical care. OR. They harm the crew with one of their traits. Not to kill them, but to incapacitate them to the point where they must be healed in medbay before returning to studying them.
Central wants periodical status updates on the research, so the RD sends them it. Now, this might be fun for a bit, depending on how mischievous the little critters are. But it can't be all study-study. Eventually, the creatures decide they want to revolt and try to take over the station. The crew tries to stop them. At first central will not allow the crew to terminate them, but after they realize the threat and permit termination, with preservation a preference.
This can go one of two ways. One way is the crew defeats the waves of aliens. They are placed back in their pens, central is informed, demands a copy of all salvaged data, and calls the shuttle. The other, and personally preferred way, is the creatures defeat the crew and take over the station as if it were their own. Then they deliver a false "all clear" to central, who buys it and goes on with their lives. The crew is then placed in the same research facilities and studied upon by the aliens themselves. This goes on until the humans break free or die horribly.
Problems with my idea, though, would be we'd need a LOT of people to play the creatures, need constant heads to keep things running at the beginning, and there might be some coding issues. But it's just a thought to be considered.
Again, I like the idea of an event where the crew builds up instead of having something just tossed at them and hope they don't die.
