Good afternoon,
First, probably the most important news: we will be shifting to a new hosting solution. This is graciously provided by the RKSZone community, and their host. The server itself should far-exceed our current limitations, albeit with the way BYOND (and as an attachment, DreamDaemon) is written, I won't be able to fully promise this until we get to run on it. There are two key take-aways here: first, expect an IP change, however, I will ensure that character saves and bans are backed up properly, and transferred.
Second, a part of the little deal that was struck, was community interaction. RKSZone does not host a SS13 server of its own, however, they have a Teamspeak server, a number of servers for other games. As well as a decently sized community. It would be an interesting opportunity to gain new friends, people to play with, as well as gain some new players to pull onto our server.
The Teamspeak server details in question are can be found in this forumpost on their site:
---
As a note, while you are on their ground, you are expected to abide by their rules. In return, any members of their community that come here, are obviously expected to abide by ours -- a relationship of mutual respect. And know that at any one point, I retain the ability to set up the old host, and get us back onto that, should issues arise. This is NOT a merge. We will retain who we are, what we do, how we do with. And they will have no say in this.
Now, another note: YeahChris will be going on leave for about an unknown time. He is not leaving, however, he cannot say with certainty, at least not now, when he is able to slip back into a regular schedule. In his stead, a new Head Administrator may be chosen for the time of his leave. Hopefully, conduct of business will not be affected to a noticeable degree.
With regards to that, Moderator applications will be opened as well. Please, both myself and YeahChris would like to see new faces apply, among the more seasoned players. Veterancy only accounts for that much in an application, what we look for instead, is skills and attributes that the person can bring to the team, not how long they've spent on our community in total. So please, if you are considering it, or have considered at any one point, make an application.
Regarding code development, I have a series of small updates in the works, but they have to wait until I finish with my exam. Once that's done, I'll have more time to dedicate, and updates should become more regular again, even if they are small things.
That should be all for now, thank you.
