Personally, I think there only needs to be 1. The worst part of this job is having a damn partner using up your resources making borgs we don't need, or making Ripleys with no mining crew, or stealing the posibrain and then SSDing in some locker.

Personally, I think there only needs to be 1. Personally, I've had amazing time working as a second person in robotics. And never once had issues with a partner, actually, even if it was some random baldy. The worst part of this job is having a damn partner using up your resources making borgs we don't need, or making Ripleys with no mining crew, or stealing the posibrain and then SSDing in some locker. IC ways of taking care of it, to include actual communication between partners.

I'll agree with Skull here, two is fine as long as you actually communicate.

Gonna agree with Skull as well. Why limit the possibilities?
Why limit the possible WEIRD SCIENCE?

Oh good, I'm glad the people who disagree with me are devs and mods, making my post all but useless c: *throws confetti*

Our jobs have nothing to do with it....
So what now? Just because I have an "official" title on the server means I can't have an opinion when a player posts a suggestion...

It doesn't mean that, it means your opinion is the one that matters

Imagine being the only Roboticist, and being confined to Robotics to do your job with no interaction with other staff.

I have to agree with skull and company on this, while you can quite easily run robotics with one. The second position is rarely filled(from my experience).

Me, with Jerry Wolff as my science man. I have honestly never had any good experiences with a partner... Except for this one guy that was doing robotics for the first time and I got to show him the book I wrote, and teach him the ins and outs. Which is fun. But now as much as I would like to click that there "Fuck no" button... I can't help but think that what if I were to go SSD as the only roboticist and then all my machine-children are left fatherless. So a second position in robotics isn't THAT bad... Just please. Whatever the fuck you do. NEVER make it more than two people. Ever.
P.S. Skull. I don't believe you! It is impossible that you never have ever run into the slightest bit of annoying incompetance. Unless you only played roboticist like... 5 times.

I remember you teaching me and showing me your book V vV Anyway, all of my interactions with other roboticists have been positive, unless the person was a bad RP-er (the mute and bald type), and this is the kind of situation where you'd be better off alone in any department. So I don't see why you'd want to close off that second spot, really.

See, I've limited Buck's knowledge of robotics mainly to mechs more than actual robots (for backstory reasons and what not...still need to make that post...) so essentially, he's a secondary roboticist character already. He's going to need Amelia, Erec, or whoever else to assist (or do everything) involving cyborgs in order for there to actually be progress. Two roboticists is fine.

In my mind, pretty much every slot, baring heads and QM, could do with a second, even Warden, because you always end up with at least one officer having to stay in brig.
Having a second slot takes nothing away from the game, but allows people to work together more efficiently. If a griefer takes the other slot, then get an Admin to deal with them; if a newbie takes the other slot, teach them. If they are just an idiot, get Security or a head of staff to get them fired.
