Backstory The year is 2066. A time of progress and corruption. Society as we know it now only exists to serve the interests of corporations and the wealthy. Many fear that Secret Societies such as the Illuminati have taken control of the world using governments as puppets; a theory supported by the adoption of RFID chips and digital credits as a global currency worldwide. RFID chips are issued for free by the government and are implanted in the right hand or forehead. Furthermore, RFID chips serve as IDs, credits cards, and tools to help in everyday lives. However, many people suspect that the RFID chip includes a tracker that the government can monitor you with and some believe it is the mark of the Beast referred to in Revelations 13:16 of the Bible. About 26% of the global population have refused to be chipped as a result, and they are shunned by the rest of society, lack many civil rights, and make up the lowest and poorest class. Technological advances, especially in the field of bioengineering, now allow humans to improve their bodies like never before through mechanical prosthetics, chemicals, and genetic modifications commonly referred to as augmentations. As a result, transhuman and New Age movements have surged in popularity. This all comes at a price, however. Only the rich can afford augmentations and extremely heated, often violent, controversies about augmentations exist. The police of many nations worldwide have been equipped with military-grade equipment as a reaction to the controversies and it is not uncommon to hear stories where live ammunition was used against rioters. Despite progress, overpopulation has resulted in the decline of the middle and upper class and the growth of the lower class. Excluding the rich, most people live in ghettos and run-down tenements where crime, disease, and homelessness is rampant. The future seems uncertain; it is up to you to decide what will happen. The Illuminati is suspected of having control over the world and the organization is central to various widespread and elaborate conspiracy theories. The FreemasonsA counterpart to the Illuminati, the creation date of Freemasonry is unclear; however, the organization is extremely old. The group was referenced in the Bible, and some suspect that the Freemasons, not the Illuminati, have control over the world. MJ-12Known as the Majestic 12, MJ-12 is the code name of a secret committee of scientists, military leaders, and government officials formed in 1947. MJ-12 is suspected of dealing with extraterrestrial issues and being involved with the Roswell UFO incident. A very few amount of people believe that the MJ-12 formed a partnership with aliens in order to take over the world.

Backstory:
John Solomon was born in the former United States in a time when the world still included things like freedom and rights. Those days are long gone, obviously. He watched in awe as the world started to unify and then he later watched with horror as he realized that he - and the rest of society, were deceived.
Although he was born into a middle-class family and had formal schooling, John eventually plummeted to the lower class as the situation grew worse and worse. Watching the television, he could see that the rich lived so much better than he did. Although protests and even riots to voice the people's concerns started to occur more and more frequently, it was all kept under the carpet and he knew the poor would suffer for the partying of the rich. At this point of his life, he realized that the United North American States, as they called it, was an oligarchy, not a democracy.
When the government tried to chip him, John, having been born in the former United States, knew that the chip's function to help was only a disguise and it's real purpose was to keep track of people. Although it meant poverty for the rest of his life, he declined the offer of implantation. As a member of the chipless, he now fights tooth and nail everyday to simply survive. He didn't care for all those new technologies anyway.
Physical Description: He is a dirty, poor middle-aged man standing at a height of 5'7" with a balding head of brown hair and a scraggly beard. His eyes are brown and although they have an sense of bitterness about them, they are not hostile. His face, sunken and hollow, may once have been handsome but now, along with his body, only show how malnourished he is. His skin is a shade of white and it is covered in grime and dirt. Various wounds and sores cover him, and it is evident that he has taken a beating for being chipless.
He is dressed in a tattered, thread-bare blue jacket that covers a shirt that used to be white and he wears a pair of ripped jeans. A pair of mismatched brown shoes cover his feet, and woolen fingerless gloves cover his hands. A cheap plastic watch is on his wrist, and it seems to be his most prized possession.

Occupation: None/Handyman

Level of Wealth: Extremely Poor

John shivered and pulled his threadbare jacket around him in a futile gesture to preserve some warmth. A light sprinkling of snow had begun to fall in New Chicago, and as he sat against a concrete wall covered in graffiti in the freezing temperatures, he couldn't stop thinking of joining the group of hobos that he saw earlier huddling around a steel barrel fire.
It was undignified to accept help, especially from hobos. Even if John was a hobo himself, which he was, he was not going to lose his dignity.
He sighed and looked up towards the midnight sky. Huge, rusting steel and concrete constructions reached for the heavens and snow kept falling onto his face. How rude. At this moment, he wanted nothing more than a hot cup of coffee. An absurd desire, considering the fact that he could never be able to obtain a single bean of coffee.
The sound of cars and a city at night filled the air as John sat there shivering in the cold.

Age: 34
Backstory: Born in 2032, in what used to be Chicago city, Douglas had an extravagant upbringing. His father was in the tech industry, and, with the sudden boom of cybertech and other technology around that time, he became very wealthy. Douglas' mother was a corporate lawyer, and negotiated huge contracts between the rising tech Mega corporations. Because of this, Douglas' family became very wealthy, and he was given the best education money could buy. The world changed rapidly around Douglas as he grew, and he came to accept it- not shun it, as some people from older generations had. As soon as he was out of highschool, Douglas entered the New Chicago police academy, and graduated two years later at the age of twenty.
Douglas quickly rose through the ranks, thanks to his wealthy connections and natural intelligence. Soon, he was part of the new, and very secretive, Cybercrimes Division, which had been reated to combat rampant cybercrime and extremely powerful hackers. Douglas began to act as a Cyberpoliceman, and because of this, received his first augment- a datacord port in his neck - which allowed him to jack his consciousness in to cyberspace and combat cybercriminals who had also downloaded their consciousnesses.
Douglas also remained a member of the regular police force, and has attained the rank of Police Investigator. To assist in his duties, he was given augmented vision and augmented legs, to assist in investigations and chases. Douglas now polices not only the dirty slums of New Chicago, but the corridors of Cyberspace as well.
Physical Description: He stands moderately tall at 6 feet 2 inches. He is decently muscled, but seems to tend more towards litheness than burlyness. He speaks with a gruff Chicago accent. He has brown, short-cut hair, and an almost perpetual stubble... He usually wears a navy blue faux-leather jacket with a black undershirt, black cargo pants, black combat boots, black faux-leather gloves, and aviator sunglasses. He also usually carries a Wasp Mk.V service pistol (occasionally loaded with explosive ammo) in his shoulder holster. [Visible Augs]: He has what looks like a small data-cord port on his neck, as well as subtly augmented eyes. His lower legs and feet have been replaced with highly advanced, stainless-steel prosthetics.
Augmentations: Advanced, zoom-capable prosthetic eyes, a data-cord port in the neck that allows Douglas to jack directly in to Cyberspace, and augmented legs and feet that allow for speed boosts. He has an RFID chip in his right hand.
Occupation: Police Investigator / Cyber Cop.
Background: The United North American States.
Level of Wealth: Moderately wealthy.

Douglas nodded his head slowly to the beat of the techno music that blared through his car's speakers. A slight snow had begun to fall on his car as he drove home, towards his luxurious apartment in the North side. To get there, he had to take a slight detour through the Southside... Where all the chipless resided. He never liked coming through here, but it was necessary for him to get home in a timely manner. As he zipped through the streets, he looked around at the unbearable poverty of the un-chipped men and women, shaking his head slowly at their purely optional plight. As he reached a red traffic light, he looked over.
A homeless man sat against a wall, shivering slightly in the freezing temperatures. Douglas stared at him - the man was different from the other transients, he could tell. Perhaps it was the pride he carried himself with? The air of respectability that seemed to surround him, even in his utterly destitute state? While Douglas was not a charitable person, he felt a certain respect for this vagabond. He decided he'd do something kind.
Douglas honked once, a loud, synthetic shriek designed to startle criminals. The homeless man looked up immediately, and Doug rolled down his passenger-side window. He flashed his badge in the dying light of the evening.
"You, by the wall. Get in here. Door's a vertical opener."
Doug put his badge away, waiting for the transient's response.

John stared at the cop who had honked at him, dumbfounded. The cop had told him to get in the car. But why? he hasn't committed any crimes that he could think of. He slowly mustered up the courage to ask the cop a question. It was a dangerous thing to question people when you were chipless, especially when you were questioning cops. But he had to know.
"Sir? Did you.. tell me to get in?" John asked, uncertainly. The cop responded to his question with a reassuring voice. "It's okay. You're not being arrested. Do you want to get in or not?"
He could hardly believe it. This.. cop.. was offering to help him? It didn't matter what the cop's intention was, however. John knew he had to get in the car because disobeying the police was akin to asking for a beating. He cleared his throat before speaking again.
"Yes, sir. I'll get in." John started to shuffle his way towards the car. The fact that he was walking on wet concrete with mismatched shoes didn't help, and he could feel the other bums watching him. As he approached the car, the cop's promise was fulfilled to be true and a vertical door opened for him with a slight hiss.
He clumsily climbed up onto the back seat of the car and leaned backwards into the heated leather seat that awaited him. The car was warm, the seat was relaxing, and John felt a comfort he hadn't felt in many years. The vertical door closed behind him and he put his hands onto his legs and listened to the erratic beat of the techno music that played through the speakers.
He dreaded what the cop might be planning to do.

Doug looked back at the shivering transient as he drove, and turned up the heat slightly. After a few moments of silence, Doug asked,
"You like coffee?"
The transient nodded numbly.
"Good. I haven't had any all day. There's this nice little cafe near my place- real primo stuff, yknow? I could do with some espresso."
Doug kicked the car in to high gear, and soon they were in Doug's neighborhood- Corona Park. They stopped at the cafe- a little retro-looking place called Moxxy. Doug looked behind him again.
"You can stay in the car while I go get the stuff. How d'you take your coffee, uh..."
Doug looked at the transient for a moment, trying to summon his Citizen's Portfolio with his augmented aviators, before he remembered the hobo wasn't chipped.

Backstory: Liam served in the New Chicago police force for twenty two years, working his way up from beat cop to detective, from detective to sergeant from sergeant to lieutenant from lieutenant to Captain of the 22nd Precinct. Liam was a straight shooter, by the book, and he had never tolerated corruption in his precinct, he was stern but tried his best to be fair, he had no illusions, he was a much better cop then captain, he hated the bureaucracy involved but he tolerated it, he was loyal.
Physical Description: Liam is six foot one and African American, he is bald and has a thin moustache resting on his lip.
Augmentations: Liam was born without a left foot, and his parents saved up for years to get him a true prosthetic, RFID chip too.
Occupation: Police captain
Background: African American, born into a working class family in the Chicago projects.

Name: James Cameron Dentin
Age: 37
Backstory: James, who prefers the initials JC, was born in a ealthy family, with two brothers, and two sisters. The oldest of the four, he was mostly neglected. His family was poor and struggling, and to top it off, his parents and other siblings completely refused RFID chips. As soon as he graduated from highschool, he made his way out of the state they lived in, and moved to Washington DC based on an offer, that he could not refuse.
For reasons yet to be known, JC was offered an RFID chip, which he readily accepted. He seems to be a sort of 'government lapdog,' and obeys orders religousley. Also working for major corperation such as VirsaLyfe and Egap industries, he is an asset to assosciations and the UNAS globewide.
With a low kill count, preffering non-lethal takedowns, and at least 50 high class missions under his belt, JC Dentin is definitely a skilled professional, and strongpoint.
Over his time with the government, he eventually became involved with a certain secret association, known as MJ-12. He prefers to work for them, and is regarded as MJ-12's officer. He has many nano-augmentations, rangign from his eyes to his bodily strength.
A traditional, 'Man in Black' JC is also somewhat known for three published books, and being one of the most augmented symbols in media, and a well-rounded moral cahracter.
Physical Description: JC is a normal looking man, for the most part. Standing at a slightly-more-than-average height of 6'2", and sitting at 5'5". He has jet black hair, usually slicked back, and jagged scars adorn his face across the eye and nose. His skin is slightly pale, most likely accumulated through his preference to Night ops. He is rarely seen in casual clothing, and, never seen without his extremely tinted Oakley sunglasses. He wears a black trench coat, black gloves, and combat boots. At certain angles, the high velocity projectile body armour can be seen under his coat, and covering his legs and shins. His cologne is of a limey scent, and he has a strange, articulate smile. His muscles are well toned, but not overly buffed. He seems like he can get around very fast, being a lean build.
He is extremely well-groomed, not a hair on his face, with some razor burn on his left cheek.
The most noticeable feature of the man is his mechanised eyes. Glowing blue even under the Oakley's, he seems to be very self-conscious about them.
His voice is deep and gravelly, with a small measure of superiority, and a hint of Texan descent.
Augmentations: RFID chip, upgraded eyes, (Thermal vision, Night Vision, integrated HUD, targetting computer), nanoaugments, (Faster healing rate, icnreased strength, increased speed), an Infocom, (Provides a direct link with HQ personnel, specifically to his assigned agent. Said agent can transfer data, voice, and other nifty things to display on the integrated HUD for an agent's eyes.) and finally, a killswitch device, deep embedded into his chest, that activates with a phrase.

JC drove into central Chicago, just finishing a mission the day prior. His infocom buzzed in his ear, but he shook it off. This was his vacation time. His black, many antannaed sedan drove up to a Cafe, and eh parked it, powering off his car. He quickly put on his sunglasses, and then began groping the air, messing with his integrated HUD.
He made a pointing motion, as he scanned the Cafe's menu from the Cybernet. He nodded once to himself, as his infocom buzzed again. He groaned to himself, before answering it. "What is it?" His gravelly voice responded.
It was his mission control agent, Alex Brand. The nerdy, scrawny, cyver-tech had a squeeky and annoying voice, but he was essential to any mission, and provided tactical data as well as maps and other useful information. "Hey, JC. Enjoying your break?" He asked.
"Damnit, Alex. This is my vacation. Senator Cromwell made me do it, anyway."
"I know, I know. I just wanted to check on you, making sure you aren't beating up a homeless man. I can see and hear everything you do, you know."
"I know. That bothers me. Go away, Alex."
"Bu--"
There is a beeping as the infocom shuts off voice-connection.
JC opens the door of the sedan, and walks toward the Cafe, boots clicking against the asphalt.

John hadn't had coffee in many years; when the cop offered him a cup and asked him how he wanted it brewed, he was caught completely unprepared.
He couldn't believe his good fortune. There he was a minute ago, freezing to death on the streets. He had been wanting a hot cuppa, and it didn't seem like a coincidence that suddenly this officer of the law was here to treat him with a cup of coffee.
In fact.. it seemed a little suspicious that somehow, this cop had knew that he wanted coffee. John had heard about the 'Illuminated' or something that had agents that could read your mind. Preposterous.
He looked up to see the cop was still waiting for his reply.
"Yes, sir. Medium roast, please." he coughed out nervously.
The cop stared at him for a moment before nodding. The vertical door opened for the cop with a hiss and the officer started to head towards the café.
Alone, John relaxed. He had been unconsciously holding his breath. Outside the car window, he caught a glimpse of an intimidating looking man enter the café, where the officer was.

Doug stood at the counter after relaying his order to the barista- an espresso, a medium roast, and a coffee cake. Poor old man was probably hungry.
The barista brought the food and pressed a small button on the counter. Doug raised his hand, and a small beam shot out of a tiny glass port on the counter. His chip was scanned and the money was charged. Doug thanked the barista and picked up all his items, turning to go. He suddenly bumped in to a rather familiar looking man. Doug looked at him for a moment.
"Hey! You're J.C Dentin!"
Doug grinned, setting aside his food and drinks on a nearby table and holding his hand out for a shake.
"I'm a big fan of your work, man!"

JC seemed preoccupied, and displayed an annoyed face as the obvious cybercop ran into him, for a split second. It quickly dissapated, and was reformed with his articulate smile. He extends his hand, and meets the cop's with his own gloved one, giving a firm, yet polite, handshake.
"Really? Man of good taste." He chuckles to himself, before retracting his hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mister.." He trails off, leaving the rest to the Cop.
His infocom buzzed, yet again, and he shook it off. He unnoticably moved one of his fingers, viewing the cyber profile of the cop, and every peice of data on the man flashed over the integrated HUD.
Interesting, thought JC.

"Cathasach," Doug offers. "Douglas Cathasach. I work in the Cybercrime division here in N.C. It's pretty serious, but not like the stuff you do." Douglas blinked behind his aviators.
"I'd love to talk more, Mr. Dentin, but I'm afraid someone's waiting on me." Douglas made a hand gesture, sending a virtual business card over to J.C's data-HUD.
"Just in case you want to get in touch. I'll see you around!"
Doug picked up his cake and coffee, and made for the door- waving to J.C as he went.

Age: 46
Backstory: Originally serving in the European Army, William is a soldier from Scotland who was transferred to the USNA Army. After serving in a minor conflict with the Far East Alliance, William quickly rose up the ranks, ultimately reaching the field rank of First Lieutenant of the 86th Infantry Division. It is an obligation of all Army personnel to receive an RFID chip, and a standard Security HUD augmentation. William received these in advance. However, at the height of his career, William started questioning the authorities, claiming High Command to be in control of the infamous Illuminati. William confronted his CO, as per his rights to question questionable acts in a military unit, only to be accused of mutiny, in which he was detained. A trial was held, yet no strings were pulled. Most of his closest friends and fellow serving officers and subordinates assumed it to be the work of a conspiracy. William was convicted and sentenced to time in the Chicago Prison of the then capital crime, and was sentenced to death in six months advance. Yet after serving three months already, William managed to launch a prison break, in which himself and two others managed to escape and flee to the outskirts. His current plans are unknown.
Physical Description: A fair-haired man with reddish-brown hair, and a thick beard. He seems to have originally hailed from the European Union, more specifically, Scotland. He is now an escapee in the state of Chicago.
Level of Wealth: Bank account with a moderate sum of money. Deactivated. So in basic format, he has no money. He is as poor as you can get.
Affiliation with Secret Societies: None (He is basically an anti-Illuminati).

William watched the two men converse in front of the cashier. He kept his cap hiding his upper face, as he sulked lowly in the corner of the coffee shop, trying not to draw any attention. He sipped his coffee calmly, tapping through the many features on some sort of tech-phone. He shifted in his seat, as his HUD attempted to passively scan the records of the most distinguished of the men conversing - J.C. Dentin His eyes narrowed, and his teeth clenched as he did so.

JC nodded once, firmly. He smiles at the man, and logs the card into his databanks. People did this to him all the time, but this guy seemed respectable, and possibly a new -
JC's thoughts were thrown awry as his advancede Integrated HUD informs him he was just scanned. Although it was only civilian level access, JC always got a shiver up his spine whenever the message scurried about the top of his eyes, in bright blue letters.
He tilted his head to the side, towards the man, discreetly scanning his features, but not accessing his profile. Smoothly, he waves at some random woman, as to cover the act of looking at the man himself. He makes his way to the register, and has a cup of coffee already made for him, based on his cyberspace interaction beforehand in the sedan.
He makes his way to an empty seat, and makes inconspicuous hand motions, his right eye sifting through every little bit and piece of the man who had scanned him, while his left browsed the net for news.

John sat patiently in the car, waiting for the cop to come back. He looked towards his left, and saw the glass door of the cafe open and the cop come out with a small cake and two drinks.
Oh, wow. A cake. John hadn't even seen a cake for the past 3 years. The last time he had eaten a cake was when he came across an extremely lucky find while rifling through the garbage - the last remaining morsels of a birthday cake that had been eaten by a wealthy family the day before he found it.
His mouth suddenly begin salivating at the thought of eating that cake. Shameful. He hated being a beggar.
The hiss of the vertical door opening interrupted his thoughts and the cop carefully made his way into the vehicle after setting the food and drinks down onto the passenger seat. The cop looked at John and smiled before handing him the coffee cake and the medium roast, which he gratefully accepted.
The next words that came out of John's mouth were almost shaky. "Thank you, sir. I can't explain how grateful I am."
The cop nodded. "No problem."
The vertical door closed with a hiss, and John dug into the cake as the car moved along. It was the best cake he ever had.

William shrugged as he looked to his left, through the open window pane, to see the police officer who was speaking with JC earlier enter his vehicle. He saw the vague image of a dirty man in the back seat, and gave it no care of the mind. He returned his sights to JC, who had now sat down. He tugged at his cap again, looking around, before sticking his hand in his navy green coat pocket. He rose from his seat, and started making his way for JC. He took the object slowly out of his pocket as he got closer to JC, and then everyone saw it; a retro pistol, probably from the year 2045, aimed directly at the man of the hour, JC. "I'm sorry," William had dreadfully murmured. (Going to wait for a response before I continue).
