Afternoon,
Aurora has grown to be a community of respectable size, with an active participant count of thirty or more. However, we have maintained a relative closeness within the Community. The ultimate showcase of this being the singular fact that Shawna, known as GeebsTweeker on our server, has elected to inform us, and keep us up to date as much as possible, on her fight with cancer.
This creates an interesting environment, one which I am proud to be apart of, but it also presents an interesting issue: right now, words of hope, strength and encouragement are the only things we can provide. However, a small group has proposed the idea of attempting to bring through a larger showcase of support, or perhaps, something a bit more concentrated. The staff is here to lend their voice and thoughts to assist with this, and we ask that anyone who is interested in such an endeavor to lend theirs, as well.
The simplest idea would be to put down all of our well-wishings and messages onto a single topic. I would like this topic to serve as a place for this (She will be gaining access to the internet shortly, and will be able to read all of these!). It should also be noted that the staff, with assistance from a few other individuals, will be sending a card from the Community to Shawna, and it may be possible to include a few of the well-wishings from here on that card.
With this in mind, I encourage you to please join the discussion.
It is my hope that we can make this into something positive.

I think a card would be a good idea! It'd be hard for us to all sign it, though...

..Ahem. Ah, christ. Well, even though this is all over and such, I would like to still say to anyone fighting cancer that I not only believe in whoever Shawna might have been, but I believe in everyone tasked with such a battle. My dad was a radiation dosimetrist for quite a while, god bless his soul, and he worked with people who had cancers popping out of their skin, and I don't know how he could deal with knowing that his patients were going to die no matter what he did or how hard he worked, and all he could do was make them last a little longer, or make it hurt less. So, I don't know, if you're out there, fighting cancer, I believe in you. Hell of a story to tell your friends when it's all over.Good luck, world.

RE: Signing a card: We could get a card take turns to print it, scan it, and then send the updated pic down the line. RE: Cancer, Remember that depending on the cancer it doesn't have to be a death sentence, my dad went through a very terminal cancer (which I was fortunately too young to remember), but my grandmother survived a supposedly untreatable cancer and has been alive and cancer free for over a decade since then. And a positive attitude towards your treatment helps much more than you'd expect, good luck!
