NTSS Arcturus
The NTSS Arcturus is currently based in the uninhabited Epsilon Endi system, orbiting around a gas giant, it generates energy through large conductor cables, which cut perpendicularly through the ionosphere, generating vast currents.
The NTSS Arcturus has a population capacity of three hundred test subjects, a security force of one hundred, and one hundred and fifty Psi Officers. This population requires the station to be 68% the total volume of the NTSS Odin. As of current numbers, the station holds one hundred and seventy four test subjects, one hundred loyalty implanted security operatives, and twelve Psi Officers.
Psionic ranking system
- Psionic Level One: A level one Psionic is capable of very minor feats of telepathy and telekinesis, generally attributed to luck, or being able to “Read” a person well.
- Psionic Level Two: A level two Psionic is able to often read what is foremost in a person’s mind, as well as being able to manipulate small objects subtly. This is generally explained as Intuition or Skill, a level two Psionic will generally be popular, due to their ability to understand a person well.
- Psionic Level Three: A level three Psionic is even more capable than a level two, being able to slightly alter the thoughts in someone’s mind, making them very persuasive and manipulating.
- Psionic Level Four: Past level three, the side effects of Psionic potential begins to become more prevalent, though their abilities are stronger, they begin to suffer from insomnia and severe nightmares.
- Psionic Level Five: At Psionic level five, the Psionic is able to project their thoughts into the minds of others, as well as utilising full-scale telekinetics, capable of moving up to five kilograms at an acceleration of nine metres per second per second, and generate a torque of up to fifty Nm.
- Psionic Level Six: Psionic level six is accompanied with another side effect, as their telepathic aptitude increases, the Psionic find it more and more difficult to block out the voices of minds near them, we have had to terminate the contracts of several Psi Officers who were driven insane by this mental clamour.
- Psionic Level Seven: At Psionic level seven, the Psionic is rendered unable to touch another living being without probing it’s mind by accident, no training we have yet formulated is capable of preventing this. A Psionic at level seven is capable of moving up to fifteen kilograms at a respectable twenty metres per second per second, as well as exerting a torque of nearly four hundred Nm.
- Psionic Level Eight: At level eight, the Psionic’s powers are nearly full fledged, they gain an awareness of the area around them, though the radius varies, this can be used to track objects and living beings that move out of line of sight.
- Psionic Level Nine: At Psionic level nine, the Psionic’s spatial awareness grows to the point where they can track various objects and humans across an area several miles across, this tends to cause discomfort, several Psionics have described it as, “Someone being in my personal space”
- Psionic Level Ten: At level ten, the Psionic begins to exhibit psychosis, ranging from mild amnesia, to mania, to cerebral damage. At this point, a trained Psionic is capable of moving up to fifty kilograms at forty metres per second per second, and can exert a torque of over seven hundred Nm.
- Psionic Level Eleven: Psionics of this level are rare in the extreme; capable of moving large weights at great speed, reading any mind that is near them, and even destroying a target’s identity makes them dangerous in the extreme. Their spatial sense has expanded to the point of being able to track the movements of space craft in real time, making them invaluable in void engagements. Experiments are ensuing to create an implant shielding the implantee from the mental strength of the Psionic, though it would be impossible to prevent the Psionic wrenching them limb from limb if they felt the wish to do so.
- Psionic Level Eleven Plus: A Psionic of this calibre has yet to be discovered, though it is theorised that their brain may not be able to cope with the stress of this level of power, leading to a lack of morals, dementia, and brain haemorrhages.

Training Protocols
The training procedures that a psionic must undertake to increase their mental fortitude vary wildly between different psionics, but all are strenuous in the extreme. Current fatality rate for test subjects is at 87%, due to cerebral damage, and failure to complete certain tests within the allotted time period.
All subjects are applied to different training procedures, each unique to the subject in question, however, there are a number of baseline tests and procedures used to gauge the level of the Psionic, as well as to force power increases on the higher level subjects.
- After acquisition, a subject is placed in a sensory deprivation chamber for forty eight hours, this is used to estimate how stable their mental state is. Subjects that fail this examination are disposed off. Higher level subjects are exempt from this, due to the instability caused by the psionic potential.
- If a subject passes, or is exempt from, the sensory deprivation examination, they are then placed in situations designed to force use of Psionic abilities, the severity of the test depends on the theorised level of the subject in question. The tests can range from a stressful interview, to being placed in a live-fire situation. Casualties are common, as are fatalities, but are within acceptable limits.
- After passing a series of situations, and showing the use of their psionic abilities, the subject will then be mentally attacked by a trained psionic agent, who is attempting to read their inner memories. The agent attempts to cause as much pain as possible while doing so, eliciting a psionic response. In earlier tests, pain-enhancing chemicals were used to strengthen the response, but their use was discontinued after they increased fatalities from cerebral decay to 98%.
- If the subject manages to put up resistance to the agent, they are again subjected to the situations, though new situations are added that rely on the subject utilising telekinetics and telepathy to resolve an issue. Rarely, a subject may succeed in throwing the agent out of their mind completely; a subject that achieves this has various psionic enhancing chemicals placed into their blood stream. This has the side effect of weakening their immune system and damaging their skin and hair.
- After a subject has passed these tests, they are placed under mental indoctrination by a higher level agent, ensuring their loyalty to Nanotrasen.
