Credits are hardly used, and most attempts to make people pay for items ends up in head/sec intervention to do someone's job without extorting money from the crew. This makes it somewhat difficult to find a useful implementation for the masses of credits that people accumulate as they play.A solution for this may just lie in Cargo. If it is made so that supply points can be purchased with credits, then proceed to up supply point costs across the board (ten points for a new singularity included), it's likely that people will actually bother with ATM's to turn credits in to order what they need.

If you're a QM, you can charge for credits, only if it goes into the department account. Anytime Security/heads give you bunk, ahelp it.

Well, I only get real pissed when barmen/chefs/botanists etc. try to get money for the service they provide.
It is so dumb. They aren't paying for anything they are giving the crew, the botanist doesn't supply the seeds. The chef doesn't supply the meat. The barman doesn't supply the drinks. It's all paid for by NT. The only reason you are there is to deliver a service. A service you are paid to produce. Guess who pays for it? Why, your emplyers of course! Nanotrasen.
So when I point that out to the barman trying to charge me 5 credits for my space beer, and he goes and says, "Well, why would NT give me a [insert name for that account scanner thing here because I haven't played recently enough to remember] to use? Huh?" That's for special services. Like a barman pitching in for the chef, you aren't being paid for doing that, and you can demand pay (should you not be doing it out of free will/community service) by charging extra.
End of the day point is, people try to make use of credits, yes... BUT THEY DO IT WRONG. I remember a suggestion about carry over credits (not possible, but half the idea is) with added vending machines to buy fancy clothes/cigars/toys and stuff to take home (in the RP sense) and such. There's somewhere to spend your credits! Also, what we really need in this game is a form of gambling that isn't just rolling a dice. WE NEED POKER. Now THAT would be furken fun.

FUCKING YES. When is this happening?! I never said it was, I just said these things are available if the dev team so chooses and the head dev gives the okay. Albeit I personally don't see why there would be facilities for gambling on a working station.

Unless its giant chess, it just wouldn't work. The pieces would be TINY (or very awkwardly sized sprites if we tried like a 2x2 or 3x3 tile board.

"Oh shit here comes the Captain. Put the cards away!" Also poker RP would be so so so so so fun... Pimp McRichie shoots a steely gaze over at the other people by the table, then pouts his lips a bit and says starts speaking in a sleek tone. Pimp McRichie says, "All in." Pimp McRichie pushes all his chips to the center of the table, accompanying the other people's bets. Pro Smartbum says, "Shoot. Fold." Random Gai chuckles, and throws his cards down. Rai Amari says, "Caaaalllllllll~" Rai Amari goes all in.

That works and such. A) Different game. B) Different Codebase. C) Different scale of sprites If you can make it work VISUALLY AND CODE WISE then do it and I will stand corrected, but until then I feel that it won't work on BYOND/SS13. If all our sprites were 64x64 by default (the 2x zoom mode on Byond.) then possibly, but with 32x32? I severely doubt you can make a working chess game inside of a game.

Iiiit's a byond game xD So, I'm sure I can port the code over, //MAYBE// IT'D BE HARD AS FUCK. But, I'm in good standing with their community, so I'm sure I can get them to give me the code if I suck the owner's dick ask nicely.

It's not a sprite changing board, it's a little virtual device that opens a second window with a chess game in it. I cannot recall WHO had it, it may be last stand.

Chess would be awkward to do, but could be done somehow.
How did we get on to Chess? Can we stay on topic please.
