Name: Gisthir Talikar Occupation: Weapons Officer Race: Unathi Appearance: A 7ft 8 figure plated with sandy coloured scales. Gisthir's head supports 4 inch stone brown horns which curve inwards. Green eyes are seated deeply within the head they reside on, constantly observing. Whilst supporting an average muscular build expected of an Unathi warrior, his prominent feature is a thick, fleshy tail which by observing, looks clearly strong. It is covered with similar scales however they seem more armored and dusty.
If one were to understand the aging of an Unathi, they would be able to tell upon sight that Gisthir is within their mid 40's, though records make this much easier stating their age to be 46. His speech in human tongue seems to be more trained then a regular Unathi and body reactions show that Gisthir may have an understanding of Gutter speak. Background: Stolen by pirate slavers at a young age, Gisthir was abandoned from the teachings of an Unathi. His entire life from then on, consisted of being a pet, a toy. Something people would use for entertainment. Sometimes it would be cage fights, sometimes it would be as a tool and other times it would be a menial thing such as cleaning the deck, whilst being mocked. As rough as his life were to be at a young age, Gisthir did what he could to keep himself sane. Luckily for him, there was another Unathi upon that vessel, another prisoner. A crippled warrior who had no purpose. Gisthir learnt a lot from this unknown company he had upon the vessel.
Ageing up, Gisthir was used for his abilities more, a means of intimidation. Assigned yet as a slave, but to bodyguard his captors, thus teaching him many ways of weaponry. As bleak as his life seemed, more good came out of it. Pirates are known for what they do, pirating. Reverse-engineering many technologies and stealing more. Whilst Gisthir knew not how to do any of this, what he did know was how to use this weaponry. Eventually when becoming an adult, he attacked his captors whilst in the midst of battle with a rival pirate ship, granting himself an escape passage. Donning himself with makeshift Unathi EVA gear he chose his only option out. It was to float endlessly in space in hopes of finding something, or letting himself die upon the wreckage that lay behind him. A lot of knowledge of his own race was not granted to him. He didn't learn the way of an Unathi, but what he did learn, he adapted to and deemed himself a warrior of his own honour.
Life flew by after being picked up by a sector patrol. Gisthir lived his life as a herbal doctor. Studying plants to a great extent and their potential. He would create concoctions that would all vary in affects, and he was proud of his skills. However his life was about to change. Noticing an advertisement for a position upon the IXS Columbus, he signed up to the U.N.S.F in hopes of being granted this position. It was his only means of leaving, of going out to find knowledge. To learn his own kind and what it means to be an Unathi.

Well I was going to do an Unathi like sub race or an alternate serpentine race but I didn't really want to go overboard. Though if people want I can change my entire post for it?

((Ok boys and G.I.R.L's lets get this party started, double brackets for OOC from now on))
The hangar lights beamed down above the rather small ship. While the IXS COLUMBUS was only a small frigate, it carried with it the greatest technologies from the Milky way, including one of only seven of the galaxy's wonderful AI. The best and brightest were chosen for this mission and as the hangar doors opened the crew saw their ship. Although their XO was late, the captain would need to make a call about that later. The crew approached the IXS COLUMBUS. . . . . .

Gisthir hissed quietly to himself as he walked closer near the vessel. He scanned everything of it from his angle of view. In Unathi speech he hissed "A warrior's path forever continues down one line, but this is a new kind of path".

Captain Trevelyan slightly squinted his eyes as the hangar door opened and bright lights from above momentarily flooded his vision. His genetically modified eyes quickly adjusted to the change in lighting and in a moment he was able to see clearly again.
A sleek vessel being serviced by a small army of technicians lay in wait inside the hangar. The Captain immediately knew that it was the best scouting frigate the U.N.S.F had to offer; he had read the schematics and blueprints to the point where he memorized where every single bolt was screwed into place. Outfitted with an experimental FTL drive designed specifically to provide the fastest speed to Barnard's Galaxy and four QX-B2 antimatter engines, the ship could outrun any other vessel in the Fleet.
It's self-defense armament was state-of-the-art; A system of GUARDIAN point defense lasers placed strategically in key points provided defense against any single-ships and the vessel contained several pods of SPEARHEAD missiles along with a pair of L105 heavy mass accelerator cannons located in the front of the ship.
The ship was made up of three decks. Engineering/Storage, the Living Quarters, and the Command Deck all connected by stairwells and elevators. Sitting there in the light illuminating it's ablative surfaces, the IXS Columbus was truly a sight to behold.
The Captain glanced towards his crew and saw that they were awestruck as well; without saying anything, he moved towards the ship with the steady clack-clack of his light-duty deck shoes and turned to face his men and women.
"Ladies and gentlemen, as you know the U.N.S.F has provided us the best they can offer so that we may explore other galaxies and establish diplomatic bonds with other species. You are the best of the best, chosen to lead the U.N.S.F in the path of discovery and peace. I'm not going to lie to you all. The path is going to be hard, brutal, and there will be times where your faith will be tested. But I know that we can pull together and do this for the benefit of everyone."
He was lying through his teeth. The U.N.S.F never wanted to send them to Barnard's Galaxy with the purpose of 'discovery and peace' and the Captain knew that well. But after finishing his speech, he saw that the faces of the crew lit up and knew that he had achieved his goal of improving morale. He would need it for the long journey ahead.
The airlock located at the bottom deck of the vessel opened with a faint hiss and the crew started to move in unison towards the IXS Columbus.

Josh had given the people he'd be working with quick glances, trying to figure out things about them, just by merely looking at this. Figuring he wouldn't be able to come up with much by just staring at them, he cast his gaze to the ship in front of him, his grin widening slightly as he looks over the ship that he could tell was much more advanced than anything he had flown in the past. Of course, he could only see what was on the outside, and he didn't know how much of the inside was more advanced.
As the Captain spoke to them, his attention was more on how well the ship could fly, than what the man standing in front of them was saying. He had studied up on a few things about the piloting system. Including the basics, there also seemed to be a better navigation system aligned into the piloting software, to allow him to both plot and keep track of areas with more ease from his pilot's seat. On-top of this, he was able to keep a eye on a few of the systems of the ships, such as the FTL engines, and the engines in general.
As the man seemed to stop speaking, he let his eyes drift back to the people in front of him, who seemed to be moving pretty orderly into the ship. Deciding to stay at the rear, he gave the exterior of the ship one last look, before making his way inside with the rest.

Due to his upbringing the armaments upon the ship caught his interest. Unlike certain categories of Unathi, guns did not bother Gisthir. Whether that would be a surprise to the crew was another matter.
Whilst walking with his assigned crewmates he states, "Sstate of the art weaponry. I ssensse we will be in a few battless. Ssay captain. Iss there a botanical area upon the ship or iss there a possibility of having one?"

Captain Trevelyan stared at his Weapons Officer as the crew briskly moved along the hallways of the bottom deck. He was an Unathi, a species of reptilian creatures. This one, in particular, was unusual. He seemed quite talkative and it was surprising to see that an Unathi would enlist onboard as a Weapons Officer; most members of their species were against using ranged weaponry.
Suddenly he turned towards the Captain and asked, "Ssay, Captain. Iss there a botanical area upon the ship or iss there a possibility of having one?"
Even more peculiar. The Unathi were carnivorous and it was unlikely that a member of their species would gain any nutritional value from plants; this Unathi seemed to be the direct inverse of what his species were known for. Nonetheless, the Captain turned to his Weapons Officer and said, "Yes, there is a hydroponics room located in the second deck near the mess hall. You may use it in your spare time."
Strange.

(( I think I got the hang of this. ))
Arriving late, Cin'in quickly made his way through the loading deck, virtually ignoring all formalities of interaction with the rest of the crew. Humming a jaunty tune, he finds his office in the loading dock, a rather small, but professional looking space overlooking the bay. Clambering up the stairs, he swings his tail around in his paws until he reaches a secured door. Checking his suit's pockets, he pulls a picture ID from it, swiping it along the locking mechanism. With a soft buzz, and a flashing light, it's clear the card is denied.
"Great.." the Han-ren says, looking up to a nearby camera. Ears folding down, he shakes his head and finds a nearby intercomm, pressing the button to signal the speaker, "Look, this is Cin'in Trezn, and my ID doesn't seem to be working." he states.

Josh stepped around the area, making quick glances at the walls of the small vessel. Eventually, he made his way to the Command Deck, where the pilot's seat was located, the area facing out the front of the ship, which would allow him and anybody else there to see out into the vast openness of space.
He made his way to his rather comfy seat, the consoles for his controls of the ship's navigation easily within his reach. Deciding to play around, he tests his intercom, not actually speaking into it, but instead just turning it on and off again. He nods, booting up the system to run through what all the ship had equipped for the systems that he would need, deciding it was better to do this now, than later.

Inis hurries through the hangar up the the ship, slinging a rucksack of belongings over her shoulder. She darts up the closing ramp and heads to the quarters.
She stops at the second quarter, the door hissing open, she quickly drops her bag on one of the bunks, then starts off at a jog towards the bridge. The ship corridors were made from smooth, grey metal, and were very cramped, Inis had to duck under bulkhead frames as she made her way to the bridge.
When she reached the bridge bulkhead, she paused for a minute, resting one hand lightly on the wall as she took a few breathes. After a minute, she straightened her back, and headed into the bridge.
The bridge was quite spacious compared to the corridors, and most of the crew was already there, Inis sat down quickly before they turned to greet the late arrival, her chair was close to the back of the room, with a simple camera console, none of the advanced systems that the others had.

One of the camera's in the Command deck focused on Josh and whirred as the Ship Wide intercom system lit up as a Upper Class English voice spoke over it. "Welcome crew of the IXS COLUMBUS, I'll be your guide today. I jest of course, I am the ship's artificial intelligence, capable of interfacing with all systems on this ship. I have access to the U.N.S.F archives and you may query me on them at your leisure. I also have control of the Ships cyberwarfare suites, and emergency protocols, emergency protocols accessible by commanding officer only."

Victoria stares at the marvel of the ship, as the other crew members surged towards it, she did aswell-automatically seeking the Engineering deck, locating the controls and smiling as she actives the power supplies and such with a flick of a few switches, the ship humming with a small surge of power, all the systems lighting up green. "This'll be fun." she mutters under her breath with a wild grin.

Heather scanned the area with her ultrasound emitter, quickly finding and whirling up to the ramp, finding a bit of difficulty in getting up even a simple slope. With a few more waves, she detected what appeared to be the captain of the ship, quickly booting up her voice synthesizer: "Would it be so rude to ask for the direction of my quarters? And after that, my workplace?" "Heather" asked the "captain",with a synthetic tone, being a distinct mix between British and French, switching in-between at odd times, as if it was recorded incorrectly. The conversation was quite one sided however, as the captain proved to be nothing more than a square metal box, she waited patiently for a few seconds, before giving of a synthetic "Never mind" then wheeling off to further up the ship, looking for members of the crew to question and bother with endless questions, most of which she already knew the answers to, but it paid to be sure. Her scanner continued to search the area, giving her the layout of the area quickly, storing it in her almost infinite memory.
